Sonic Game: What's the point of act 3? How do I get past the spinning egg?

Ok, you have to hold down the down arrow key, and hold left too to spin to eggman. most of the time you do this, you can jump & hit him. if this doesn't work for you, i don't know what to tell ya. Oh, and in most old sonic games (sonic 1, 2, CD, and this game etc.) have a boss every 3rd act. that's the point of act 3.

I'm with you dude. I've gone through acts 1 & 2 fine but spinning egg kills me. What's a boss anyhoo?

I manage to do the second boss (Egg Bomber) easily with Tails and Cream (because I can fly in front so I don't get hit by the bombs), but it's slightly harder with Sonic and Knuckles (they can't fly). I can still get through the whole game with all 4 characters + Amy and Shadow.
