hi, my name is ashley. I'm not a parent. infact i'm only 17. I am a babysitter for 5 autistic children. I try to teach them stuff like how to clean or how to do there abc's but I think they can learn more. anyone that has autistic children will tell you how hard it is. so does anyone have any autistic children. I would like to ask them some questions.

I am also interested in learning how to care for autistic children. I hear that there are some methods that work better than others. If anyone has any experience on what has been successful for them please share as I would like to learn.

My son is 4 years old and has Autism. Lesson 1 is not to label the child. They are not autistic children, but children with Autism. I know it sounds like a small difference, but it can be an entirely different way of thinking. Remember that they are children first and foremost.
I would be glad to answer some questions for you. I've posted some information up on other sites. Feel free to check out my blog posts at http://smarttutorzone.blogspot.com/. The posts from August 4th and August 15th deal specifically with Autism. Some of my other posts are about spending time with my son.
