Pregnancy is a very exciting time for everyone. While you are going through this exciting time, it is important to make sure you are eating right and staying hydrated. Water plays a very important role in pregnancy and is essential to the health of mom and baby. With water becoming a hot topic in the news for contamination, it is important to make sure you are drinking purified water.

Drinking water often contains harmful contaminants such as, lead, arsenic, sodium, radium, and more. These chemicals are not only bad for the baby, but they are also harmful to the health of mom and dad. Water filtration systems that use reverse osmosis can eliminate 99% of the harmful contaminants in your drinking water. Some women resort to boiled water for drinking throughout their pregnancy. This gets to be a time consuming, and tiring process. Reverse Osmosis filtration systems purify the water by forcing liquid with a high concentration of contaminants through a molecular filter, or semi-permeable membrane, to the low concentration side where this water can be collected. Reverse osmosis purification allows you to have clean drinking water without the hassle of boiling it for purification.

In nature, osmosis drives a liquid with a low level of dissolved solids through a semi-permeable membrane into a higher concentrated solution of dissolved solids. This continues until both levels have equalized pressure. The natural osmosis process, therefore, works great in pushing the more concentrated tree sap up to the tallest leaves of an oak tree, but it uses up pure water to do it.

Though this process works in nature, it does not eliminate the harmful contaminants and dissolved solids in a laboratory setting. The process of using reverse Osmosis has proven successful in eliminating the health risks involved with drinking contaminated water.
