I was recently contacted by a lady, supposedly in Dublin, to come be a nanny for her child.
After emailing her and talking with her, I acdepted her position.
She then asked me to send money to an agency for the plane ticket. I explained that I had already purchased my ticket.
I never heard back from her. Obviously this was an attempted scam.
So here's the thing. I already have my ticket. I have my passport. I'm already to go to Ireland, except I can't afford to simply go and just lollygag around. I was going for a purpose. Sure, she wasn't going to pay a lot, but that's not the point. The point would be I'd be in a new land. I even applied for Irish Citizenship, because my Grandparents were Irish. My dad's Irish, he was just born in Liverpool.
I cried for an hour last night, I was so upset.
So if anyone knows of anyone in Dublin- or really ANYWHERE in Ireland - who needs a short-term or possibly long term nanny/aupair... they don't have to be offering much in way of pay... please direct their attention to this thread. I have lots of experience, and excellent references.

Hello,Catherine. My Name is Norah And I am helping a family in Dublin to find an au-pair for their 2 children ages 2 and 4. Your job would consist of taking the children to school, and or caring for the 2 year old. Your work schedule consist of the mornig to the afternoon monday-Friday, with weekends off.
Pay will be approx. 90-100 Euros a week. It is a long term contract
