M-Trading is a recruiting company in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. They are always desperate to get new teachers because they cannot retain them. This company often does not answer questions about the contract (non existent/generic) or other job benefits (non existent). Usually they just reply with half answers in bad English. They are notorious for not paying on time. Some people were not paid for over 45 days from entering the Kingdom. They tried to keep our passports and threaten teachers not to pay them if they didn't sign their generic contracts. This company brings all of its teachers on a Business Visit Visa. So if you do come with them you can easily keep your passport and find an alternative job. They do not pay for your flight to and from the Kingdom. There is no medical coverage. They charge you for just about everything. Only the apartment and stuffed van ride to and from Jubail Industrial College is included. The manager, Mahmoud, and his assistant Noman, are incompetent. Noman has forgotten people at the airport. One teacher did not get picked up for 3 days. He will not help with the luggage. He'll probably tell you to come to the street and meet him. Mahmoud will blow-up and get really loud when confronted about simple things like being paid on time. There is so much more that they have done but I can't go into depth this time. Please feel free to post questions.

Well, an update about this company. My friend and I were forced to pay 13,000 SR for M-Trading to lift a block on our passports. Plus they demanded an apology and the deletion of information I provided on the internet. Now that my friend and I are back from getting new visas (new sponsorship) we can provide more information about this untrustworthy company.

Hi.I was offered a job at Jubail Industrial College by M-Trading. They even offered to pay for a ticket(deduct from first pay) After reading comments about them on this forum I decided not to take up their offer ,although I really needed the job.(54 and in NZ and not employed-very difficult to get any job!) What I cannot understand is how they get away with employing on Business visas! Does the Saudi Immigration just turn a blind eye?

There seems to be many companies that use Business Visas like this. It is a major loophole in the system. I wish you the best of luck. Also, try applying directly to the colleges and universities. It may take a little longer, but the employment packages will be much better.

What teaching experience is this where you aren't paid on time? It sounds like you work in the cheap and low-end zones of the TEFL industry which means you aren't the person to tell US who are familiar decent terms and conditions what it is we ought to expect.

Beware. 1,000 times Beware. Warning: Do not subject yourselves to unfair labour practices that are not being regulated by the proper authorities. Again it is your choice to be abused.

Operating in the EU ... this outfit would be banned by business for numerous ULP's.

No regulations here & no union to protect teachers from not receiving their pay checks 2, 3, 4 months late ... and sometimes never. You can read it all here ... from the real teachers ... & forget the fabricated " I love JIC" non-sense as posted by all the below.

M-Trading AKA Virtual Vision AKA Dialdin AKA Al-Kam Trading AKA Tulbah Contracting Services AKA Global Entity Manpower many aliases to hide the beast.

Saudi is a great place to work. I have enjoyed teaching English immensely to Saudi students at Hail University. M Trading has provided me with this once in a lifetime opportunity to earn some good money as an English teacher. I really thank M Trading and its helpful staff for all their kind assistance to me whilst in the Kingdom. Thus far I have received my salay with no problems. The delays in recieving salaries once in a hile is normal here in Saudi...it is not the end of the world if this happens to anyone due to unforseen circumstances. Hail is the true Saudi Arabia offering a once in a lifetime magical Arabian experience with a very hospitable and friendly people. I love Hail it reminds me of the movie Lawrence of Arabia! I hope to remain here for the next 4 years and save a lot of money so I can buy my new home in the U.K. for myself and family.

Hi! I am really happy with M Trading they have helped me a lot at Jubail Industrial College since arriving last September. I have saved tons of money and am now investing in real estate in the U.K. I have been informed hat JIC wishes for me to continue working here next year and will be very happy to come back here in September again after a two month holiday. Jubail is great...nearby is Bahrain for the exciting getaway weekends....I can't wait to come back. Thank you M Trading and JIC!!

All these posts praising M-Trading appear to be fake. Anyone with even a moderate background in advertising will suspect the language and wording used; it looks like some sort of a marketing ploy, not a sincere review.

I don't work for this company so I have no connection, however it seemed to obvious that I had to comment. I don't think this will fool anybody; private companies in the EFL world are known for seeding positive reviews online to lure in teachers. I don't think I will be applying to this place any time soon.

Here's my story. Stuck around for 2 months on the Hail contract with M-Trading without getting paid. With fellow teachers not getting paid for 3 and 4 months running, with the lame excuse that "we have not gotten paided by the university", I decided to cut my losses and leave. I lost out on my airfare & time without pay, but at least I did not stick around like others. First time people are what they prey on those of us that do not know better. Take it from me, and many others, avoid these M-Trading people at all cost! You will save your time & money & emotions.

Hi everybody. Have just finished my contract at Hail University. It was a great experience. I worked for M Trading and saved a lot of money. I think you should all consider working at Hail. M Trading always paid us our money however sometimes payment was late but we eventually got paid. I recommend M Trading and Hail University highly if you are seeking a lucrative and exciting EFL position in Saudi Arabia.

I agree with you about Trading. I am also working for them in Jubail. I just finished my contract with them at JIC. Have been paid fully and am presently in Bahrain looking forward to returining home to Australia. I have saved a lot of money in Saudi!

Here's our story at Jubail. We began with M Trading in late September last year. Jubail Industrial College was nothing much to talk about.....boring students, incompetent management and a syllabus that seemed prehistoric. The only good thing we can say about our time in Saudi was that M Trading always paid us our money, we recieved advances whenever needed and the staff were very welcoming and helpful. I think M Trading is a very good contractor to work for in Saudi and I would recommend them time and time again for English teachers looking for an opportunity to teach ESL in the kingdom.

As an ex M Trading teacher I would like to comment. I think many people have different opinions about this company. Overall I found them to be fair in many ways. I do not understand why so many people complained about them on this forum. I worked for them in Hail for only six months. I got paid from M Trading but did a runner as I couldn't stand working there. It was the teachers who made me leave......not the university or M Trading....many of which had serious mental problems!

Good day everyone! I would like to say that my experiences teaching English in Saudi have been fine. I have worked for many employers in the kingdom and had a very good experience working for M Trading in Jubail. I also worked for the European Center in Jubail and all I can say is that it was the worst teaching experience I ever had in Saudi.

esl teacher
blacklist m-trading - they are now actively recruiting for female esl teachers - avoid it like the plague
thanks for creating a website just to inform other unassuming teachers of these scumbag scam artists. i too was offered a contract to work at the university of hail through m-trading. it was the generic contract offered. i too recevied the half-answers and pressure to just get myself to ksa. they gave me teh phone number of a travel agent i should deal with in my base country - he could not speak english and insisted i mail my passport to him - not?!? any person in their right mind would not sign an all inclusive package for ksa or any other country. they originally offered me an all up salary of usd$3500 per month, and then they arbitrarily lowered it to $3200 without reason. they wanted to hire me as a "consultant" instead of an english lecturer, whereby i would have to submit an invoice every month just to receive my salary and by the sounds of the other horror stories listed here, i would not have been paid anyway. my advice to anyone contemplating taking a position with this company - do not do it - under any circumstances. it is entirly unethical and illegal to put teachers in this position. the red flags to any teacher contemplating entering into this extremely dangerous situation are: all companies must pay your incoming arifare in advance (i mean you are not talking about flying into singapore or other simialr cirvilisaed state - it is ksa). never accept an all inclusive salary/benefits package - this is only a way for them to cream money from you. all legitimate companies should pay for your visa costs. in ksa, to work legally, you should have your work permit processed from outside of ksa to avoid the mightmare of visa runs to bahrain - again my i impress upon you that all of these countries are ruled by sharia law and basically you do not have a leg to stand on on any matter. remember that religious police rule and foreigners have been beaten and tortured for having a makeshift winemaking appratus in their home. also, evven if your get your medical and work permit from outside of ksa, the recruiting company you are dealing with should assist you in that process. i am working otuside of my home country and have had several recruiters tell me to go back to my home country for my medical and work permit - this is also bad as these recruiters (if they are legit) should pay for your way back to your home country and subsidise the 6-week period to get this done).

m-trading needs to be shut down before someone gets killed. now this sounds dramatic but it is true. as a teacher in ksa if you do not have the ongoing support of your recruiter, employer and/or sponsor - you are in big trouble. i have been teaching esl overseas for several years and m-trading is by far the absolute worst situation i have ever encountered.
shut them down. the biggest scam artist in this scam is: daniel bowles - director, english language centre, university of ha'il, in ksa (danielb@uoh.edu.sa) and the personnel dept (dfa@uoh.edu.sa) - where m-trading sends naive teachers. he should be reported to all international tesol/tefl/esl governing bodies. he is currently advertising on tesol.org - you should write to the board of directors of tesol.org and have the ad removed and report this situation. he is the worst culprit because he watches by as these horrific stories occur. you should contact the department of higher education in ksa and alert them of this situation because each of teh universities/colleges in ksa and all recruiters receive grants to employ esl teachers into ksa. the mohe actually offers a very attractive package (base salary of 3500-5000 plus flights for 4 family members, plus medical, plus gratuity, plus accommodation (about $usd1000cper month), plus transport (about $usd400 per month) but the universities and recruiters cream and steal all the money for themselves. the mohe package actually is and then calculate what m-trading and other similar fly-by-night-operators steal off the top. m-trading steals 50-75% of the government package for themselves and puts teachers at great risk.

I have been offered a position at M Trading for the September in Hail. They offered 11,450sr plus free housing. From what I can make out this is lower than what was offered last year as they where giving 12,000. Are they playing on people's desperation by lowering the salary? As for the previous poster, can you please tell me why Daniel Bowls is someone to be avoided? What is the city of Hail like? Is the compound safe?

Hi

Total incompetence. Received a Job offer Aug 31 2009 University of Hail, returned signed next day.

Asked incompetent manager about this website, he assured me that the only reason 'tacomaboywa' did this was because he wanted a NCO form from KSA, which they weren't prepared to give. He gave me two teachers e mail contacts as references. I didn't check them.

Received Visa processing forms 07 Sept 2009

Went to KSA visa agent London 10 Sept 2009 only to be asked what type of visa namely, Business, Work or Short Term.

Agent responds 13 Sept 2009 visa type is a short term visa cost 253,75 pounds sterling.

Obviously M Trading doesn't know that the teacher has to pay the Saudi Embassy.

I received visa on 18 Sept 2009 , send e mail to M Trading, with please book airline ticket asap.

No response to my 3 e mails until 26 Sept 2009 , the day I am supposed to start at Hail.

Response, oh I must contact the Uni Directors.

After more e mails finally there isn't any job for me in Hail.

Now my search for work continues, and what a waste of time and money these people at M Trading are.

These people are just totally incompetent.

MK Trading what a joke! This is one take on a scam, whatever you want to call it. Do not sign up with this company. I was stupid enough to do this, and do I regret it. My gut told me not to do it, but I would not listen to it, so I paid the ultimate price, and this is a shortened version of what happened to me.

I refused the job at Hai’l university, (employed by MK trading and not the university directly) because I had to pay for the ticket and visa (this is a warning sign and I did not pay attention to it). I then decided to go ahead and take the job, but MK Trading would pay for the one way flight and this would be deducted from my first salary. I arrived in Ha’il on September 24, and was dropped off at this hotel of sorts. I was given a plastic key to room 403, and upon entering the room I went to the fridge to get some water, but there was nothing in the fridge, and it was not switched on. I then went down to the lobby and asked the person who was in charge for some water and he gave me a cup of water. I asked him if there were any washing facilities (washing machines and dryers) he stated NO. I then asked him if they had an ironing board and an iron, and he once again replied NO (all of this according to Tamim AL-Ansary would be in place upon arrival). The following day nobody from the trading company or the university contacted us and this went on for a few days. Finally on the 29th we were asked to meet at this building that was going to be used for the English program; it was across the street from the hotel (the hotel was going to be were we lived for the duration of our stay). On the 29 nothing happened; it was to introduce themselves, and we had to go back the next day to get questions answered. At this point I had been living on bread and jam as I had no money (I was under the impression that MK Trading would give us an advance on our salary). On the 30th it was just another get together and to explain the course, which was a joke. Anybody could have done that. Maybe that is why they hired people who do not have teaching degrees? Some questions were asked about MK Trading, but they were unable or they would not talk about it, and MK Trading were not present. One of the direct hires approached me and asked if I had any questions, so I asked him to tell me the truth. He did, and he did not paint a pretty picture. You would not get paid for at least 2-3 months, there is no medical, the hotel is where we are will be living for the duration of our stay; the list went on and on. He then told me about the special classes they had after finals last year, and some of the teachers had not been paid as of yet, and they all left. That was 4 months ago, so what recourse do they have none.

One person had money sent by Western Union, but he could not get it as he did not have Saudi ID, and you can not send money out for the same reason, but MK Trading would send it for you at a price. At this point my friend and I decided to leave, so we booked the flight for the 4th of October. We spent 20 hours in the airport in Bahrain as we wanted to get out of Saudi for fear that M Trading might try to stop us if we stayed at the airport in Saudi. I don’t want to bore you with the details, but this is true, and yes everyday I woke up thinking that it would get better and my attitude was positive as I wanted to stay there for at least one or two years just to make the money, but I lost money. Please stay away from MK Trading; they tell you what you want to hear. Their emails to you are very good, but they have double meanings, and when you speak to them in person on the phone you can’t understand them. One final thing if you look at the pictures of Ha’il University, it is very beautiful, but in real life it is a skeleton. The picture is what it will look like in 20 years maybe. One final, final thing: this is October 5th, and they still do not know that my friend and I have left as Daniel Bowles Director; E.L.C. sent my friend an email on the 4th October which is below.

From: Daniel Bowles Subject: Re: apologies

To: Cc: "Eid Haisoni" Date: Sunday, October 4, 2009, 3:55 PM
Dear What you have been told about M-Trading is probably basically true about their record, which is very poor, though it is equally probably exaggerated and so far the indications are that the situation has now improved. If you are still here, please come to see me (office no. 110). If, however (as your message implies), you are already back in Thailand, I am sorry you have left without discussing the problems but I appreciate your notifying us. Yours sincerely, Daniel Bowles
Director, E.L.C.

These are some of the emails these two characters have been sending to me, and each other and they made sure that I received them I have not changed anything just their email address, as I would not like them to get unsolicited mail from anybody. I never said than I would pay for any ticket, and this person Gregory has made himself the leader, and he does not have a teaching degree to teach English. Once again this proves what sort of people I had to deal with. I was looking forward to working there, and I was going to say for at least two years. They also can not take the passports of the other people as the visa is not for a year it is a business visa and is valid for sixty days only. They when the visa expires they have to pay for the extension. As you can see this character Greg has his noise right up you know where. I also agreed that they could deduct from my first salary the amount of the one way ticket to get to Hai’l. But I had been there for 5 working days (9 days total), so I figured that the days that I was there (not including the weekends) takes care of the one way ticket, as I paid for my flight out of there. I also had to pay for my business visa. Greg also admits that he is not a teacher, and Tamimul states that, because we left he is unsure about his wedding. This proves that his only concern was his commission for hiring people, and not the welfare of the employees.

I had to repost the emails they sent to me, but here they are I hope.

Dear Greg,

Thanks for your prompt reply. Let me see whether he will pay back or not. I really appreciate your idea of sticking a notice board in the hotel. You have so much creative ideas and I will definitely update this to our boss when he is free.

Please find below email address of them. If you have the chance to convince them and bring them back, I will be so much thankful to you. Let us see. And, please collect all the Male teachers passport and handover to Mr. Roger immediately. Make sure that all teachers should have the photo copy of the passport with them.

Marhaba, Dear Tammim Steve said that he will pay back to M-Trading for his air ticket. I think that we should find him firstly before making any judgements. I am going to organize a notice board in hotel's lobby so all M-Trading consultants will be looking for your announcements over there as our internet connection still not too good. Please do not get disappointed too much. I will try my best to help you to find them. Please let me know their email addresses. My best wishes on your soon marriage!!! Insha Allah!
We shall find them one way or another. I know that you're very nice to everybody and it's not fair. Kind regards, M-Trading Leader

Thank you so much dear Greg. I appreciate all your work and help you are doing to me. I am quite disappointed with both the teachers ran away because the company will cut the ticket payment from my salary only. It’s again very big loss in my salary when I am supposed to get married by next month. Anyway, it’s all quite small hurdles in this business. Regards

Dear Teachers, Good day to you,

As per Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs instruction, a government stamping has to be attained in your passport after arrival to Saudi Arabia. Kindly take a photo copy of your passport and hand over it to Mr. Roger or Mr. Sultan immediately. You will receive the protection letter from our company exchange to the passport in next two days. Thank you very much for your rude message, Well, it's not the way people do business anyway... You are a thief if you will not pay the money for your air ticket back as you promissed. Is it why you two didn't say good bye to anyone because you wanted to steal? You will be traced and you'll have to pay a fine (something like 10'000 reals). Moreover you'll never be able to enter K.S.A. again. Just keep it in mind. This is if you will not come back. Anyhow I am wishing you the best. Take care, Gregory
P.S. I'm not hiding from anyone that my qualification in Software and Hardware engineering. I'm an engineer. However I don't mind teaching for now.

First of all I will reply to this message, and after that forget it.

I arrived there (Ha’il) on the night of the 24th September, and the contract begins from that date (even though we did not sign one), so not counting the weekend that gives me a total of five days which covers my ticket correct? So I am not a thief; let’s get that part straight. I do not have to pay anybody any money for I was there in body and soul ready to work, so they have to pay me and everybody who was there from that period of time.

Let me advise you on Saudi law MK Trading can not take anybody’s passport, because of the stamp that is already stamped in it. It is only a 60 day business visa, and nothing else is required, so if they take your passport it is illegal OK. If you had a yearly visa then that is different they will take the passport.
Please show this or send it to T as he has sent me emails with your name on it, and I know that you are in contact with him OK. Please do not contact me again thanks and good luck in you adventure.

I agree with you that the Saudi people who live in the Hail regent are very friendly, but please give me a break it reminds you of Lawrence of Arabia. I did see this comment once before on another website, so I can presume that it is from the same sick person. Even the people who were direct hires stated that MK Trading were very bad to work for. One of the direct hires informed me that when the MK Trading people who work for the university had finished the summer course had still not been paid and that was in October of this year when I was there. UOH told MK to pay everybody (who worked for MK) the total amount even though they had finished two weeks early, but MK redid the time sheets so that it showed different hours. Which meant that the MK people did not get paid for the whole time that they were supposed to get paid for, but MK pocketed the money. So who is the thief?

Check out this site: http://www.tulbah.org/

Mahmoud tries to be a nice guy when is is convenient. Other then that his true colors have come out way too often. He and the true owner of M-Trading (Mr. Karoof) are just out to make a fortune. Ripping off the naive EFL teachers. They by-pass regulations guaranteeing workers in KSA Medical, Flights to and from KSA, Legal Status, and other rights of workers in the kingdom by brining everyone in on Business Visas. Such a scam! I hear Noman being so incompetent has been fired.

All the things people say about M- Trading or MK-trading is true! We arrived the Kingdom since the 24th September 2009 and up to today the 7 of November 2009 at middnight that I am posting this message we haven't been paid.

The university of Hail where we are working paid all the staff their September Salary. They equally paid M-trading. But M-trading has not paid us yet!

As mentioned on the post Posted: 8 Oct 2009 11:37:20 above is true. We are still in the same hotel. One washing machine was bought for about 25 people to share! All the staff working for the university have received labtops but M-trading didnt give ours. The ladies in the other schools were given computers but were taking back the next day because M-trading took the money.
Housing allowance for staff in the univesity is 16000 -18000 Riyalds. But we dont get it while we are kept in one small room in a hotel with no internet and other basic needs.
Internet was promised since the 24th September when we arrived but up now that I am posting this there is no internet yet!

Watch out please! Never accept any offer from this company Aka M-trading!
