Certified Medical Assistant:
Medical assistants perform administrative and clinical tasks to keep the offices of physicians, podiatrists, chiropractors, and other health practitioners running smoothly. The duties of medical assistants vary from office to office, depending on the location and size of the practice and the practitioner’s specialty. In small practices, medical assistants usually are generalists, handling both administrative and clinical duties and reporting directly to an office manager, physician, or other health practitioner.
Certified Surgical Technician:
Surgical technologists, also called scrubs and surgical or operating room technicians, assist in surgical operations under the supervision of surgeons, registered nurses, or other surgical personnel. Surgical technologists are members of operating room teams, which most commonly include surgeons, anesthesiologists, and circulating nurses. Before an operation, surgical technologists help prepare the operating room by setting up surgical instruments and equipment, sterile drapes, and sterile solutions. They assemble both sterile and nonsterile equipment, as well as adjust and check it to ensure it is working properly.
Certified Sterile Processing Technician:
The Central Sterile Processing Certificate Program is a course developed to acquaint entry -level aides and refresh existing technicians on the scope of scientific principles that underlie decontamination, processing, sterilization, distribution, and inventory control of instrumentation. This certificate of credit course will provide the knowledge of current regulations, techniques and trends to enable individuals to function with nationally based competencies in health care sterile supply processing and distribution areas, Upon completion of this course, graduate will be prepared to take the Certification for Healthcare Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician's exam.
Certified Midwife:
A midwife is an expert in normal and natural birth and is recognized throughout the world as the most appropriate maternity care provider for most women. Learn the responsibilities of a midwife from the beginning of a patient's childbearing cycle to well after the delivery of the patient's baby. Most direct-entry midwives are self-employed in independent, private midwifery practices. Others work in public or community health agencies in administrative, educational, or counseling positions.

Graduates will be able to check vital signs, perform CPR and First Aid, and assist in medical examinations, performing electrocardiograms (EKGs), basic laboratory procedures, and phlebotomy. This program is taught with a combination of lecture, practical exercises in the medical laboratory and with real-world experience during the externship portion of training conducted off-campus at medical facilities
Therapeutic Massage:
Although massage is not thought of in conjunction with Western medicine, Europeans have employed this time tested practice for centuries. In the U.S. we entrust our health to doctors and our bones to chiropractors and orthopedists, but what of our nerves and muscles? The answer is massage therapy. Medical massage can be used to prevent muscular atrophy in cases of broken bones, to reduce inflammation in strains and sprains, to reduce inflammation of sciatica and lumbago, to increase circulation of varicose ulcers, to stimulate normal bowel movements and much more.
- Bodywork
- Swedish Massage
- Deep Tissue Massage
- Myofascial Release Techniques
Certified Colon Therapist:
Students enrolled in colonic hydrotherapy schools will learn that colonic hydrotherapy is a method of cleansing and detoxifying the colon through gentle infusions of purified water, which allows the entire colon tract to be cleansed, eliminating toxic buildup, wastes and bacteria.
Electrocardiogram:
An electrocardiogram (ECG or EKG) is a routine test that is used to look at the electrical activity of the heartbeat. An electrocardiogram can tell your doctor a lot about your heart and how it is working. This test can help your doctor learn more about your heart rhythm, the size and function of the chambers of your heart, and your heart muscle. A healthy person's electrocardiogram has a certain pattern. When there are changes in that pattern, your doctor can tell that there is a problem with your heart. For example, during a heart attack, the EKG machine records the changing pattern of the heart's electrical activity.
Certified Mental Health Technician:
Mental health technicians have more formal training than aides. Technicians participate in both the planning and implementing of individual patient treatment plans. They may be responsible for admitting and interviewing patients, record keeping, assisting in administration of medication, and conducting therapy sessions. Mental health technicians and aides need to have good observation skills. They must recognize and report changes in behavior of patients to other team members. Personal characteristics that are important for this job are a stable personality, ability to work well with people and the motivation to help others.
Certified Phlebotomists:
Phlebotomists are allied health professionals who have been trained to collect a patient's/client's blood, or other body specimens (such as urine, and stool for occult blood tests). They often are seen as part of the clinical laboratory team, because they collect the ordered clinical laboratory specimens prior to the actual laboratory testing!
Medical Office Receptionist Program:
The Medical office Receptionist Program consists of administrative courses designed to develop basic skills such as keyboarding and computer usage and medical specialty courses such as medical terminology and medical office procedures. In addition to keyboarding and basic computer skills, the student will receive training in communications, anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, and medical procedures.
Home Health Aid:
Home health aides help elderly, convalescent, or disabled persons live in their own homes instead of in a health facility. Under the direction of nursing or medical staff, they provide health-related services, such as administering oral medications. Like nursing aides, home health aides may check pulse, temperature, and respiration; help with simple prescribed exercises; keep patients’ rooms neat; and help patients move from bed, bathe, dress, and groom. Occasionally, they change nonsterile dressings, give massages and alcohol rubs, or assist with braces and artificial limbs. Experienced home health aides also may assist with medical equipment such as ventilators, which help patients breathe.
Certified Nursing Assistant:
Job security and having a flexible schedule as a nursing assistant are two benefits of taking classes at IIHCP. As an NA, you may give direct patient care in long-term care facilities, hospitals, clinics and in the home. With your newly acquired NA skills, you can diversify into other areas of medicine, such as labor and delivery, pediatrics and geriatrics. Upon graduation from IIHCP, you can build a rewarding and secure future for yourself as a Nursing Assistant. To become a Certified Nursing Assistant you must take the State Board Licensure exam. In-services are to be renewed every year. At the IIHCP the student will receive a certification for Nursing Assistant upon completion of the course.
