Founded in 1986, Yorkville College is located in downtown Toronto. Yorkville College offers a variety of diploma programs designed to suit the employment needs of industry. Our students engage in hands-on learning and graduate with the advantage of practical experience before starting on their career path. Some programs even offer a field-placement component wherein the student is placed in an actual work setting under professional supervision as a component of the overall curriculum. Switching careers is also very common today and our intensive practice oriented programs help ease the transition from one career to another. Many our programs offer frequent starting dates to help accommodate students wishing to quickly begin their studies and move efficiently through their program and into relevant employment. Courses generally meet for 20-25 hours per week, four or five hours per day, mornings or afternoons, Monday through Friday, with the curriculum focused on practical career education providing the skills and knowledge students need to move seamlessly into the careers for which they are being prepared. The National Screen Institute — Canada (NSI) with headquarters in Winnipeg, is a film and television training school. Training is based around the philosophy that the best way to learn is by doing. Our market-driven training programs have led to employment for graduates by giving them a competitive edge. According to the latest NSI alumni survey, 97% of respondents are working in the film and television industry.
NSI’s training programs are led by experts in film, television and digital media – they deliver workshops and seminars and mentor participants. Participants are not required to pay tuition fees or relocate. NSI trains program participants in one centre for a short period of time. Participants then return to their home communities and work with local mentors on their projects, under the leadership of the program manager.

The Canadian Centre for Verbatim Studies (CCVS) in downtown Toronto, is Canada’s only college specializing in the training of Court Reporters and Broadcast Captioners. We offer both in-class programs (full and part-time) and online courses which meet rigorous National Court Reporters Association (NCRA) standards.
The average working reporter in the verbatim studies industry is currently between 50 and 55 years of age. Canada desperately needs a new generation of work-ready court reporters now. The mandate of our program is to address this need, and to replenish and fortify the ranks of the industry with expertly-trained, highly-skilled reporters and captioners. By its mere existence, CCVS doubles the nation’s potential yield of court reporters. Of equal importance, our exclusive practicum (work-placement / internship) helps our valued students to adjust realistically to the demands of working in the field.
