Accounting and Payroll Administrator Program:

The Accounting and Payroll Administrator diploma program combines office administration and computer training with a practical foundation in payroll, accounting methods and specialized accounting software such as QuickBooks and Simply Accounting. A five-week practicum will give you an opportunity to put your skills to use in the field. As a graduate of this program, you'll also receive Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) certification through the Canadian Payroll Association (CPA).

Office Administration Program:
Businesses rely on one or two key people to carry out the numerous duties once performed by many clerical staff. A successful office administrator must be a jack-of-all-trades. Multi-tasking is a job requirement and strong organizational skills are a necessity.

Among the more important tools and skills you will learn to use in this course are Design and Layout, Prepress, Illustrator, Photoshop, and Quark. Medical Office Assistant Program:

As a graduate of this program, you will be prepared to begin a career as an Admitting Clerk, Emergency Room Admitting Clerk, Medical Secretary, Medical Transcriptionist, Medical Receptionist, Medical Billing Clerk or Medical Office Assistant.

Medical Pharmacy Assistant Program:
As a result of pharmacists taking a more active role in drug therapy and the counseling of their patients, the pharmacy assistant is becoming an increasingly essential position. Train for a career as an Admitting Clerk, Emergency Room Admitting Clerk, Medical Secretary, Medical Transcriptionist, Medical Clinical Assistant, Medical Receptionist, Medical Billing Clerk, Pharmacy Assistant Technician or Medical Office Assistant.

You will learn basic medical terminology and pharmacology, dispensing (community and hospital), inventory, billing, bookkeeping and administration, as well as customer service skills. Students will be trained to prepare and administer basic medical office tests, learn to assess and prioritize patient appointment requests and respond to patients’ basic questions about their medical condition and prescriptions. In addition, you will learn general office procedures and administration including the use of a medical billing software package. You will also receive First Aid and CPR training and certification.

Pharmacy Assistant/Technician Program:
Pharmacy Assistant / Technician is becoming an increasingly essential position as a result of pharmacists taking a more active role in drug therapy and the counseling of their patients. Students will be trained in pharmacology, dispensing (community & hospital), inventory, billing and administration, as well as customer service skills. You will also receive First Aid and CPR training and certification. As as successful graduate of this program, you will be in great demand. A Canadian Journal of Hospital Pharmacy study states, “86 per cent of all graduates of Pharmacy Assistant / Technician programs found work in their field.”

Hospitality Management Diploma (AHLA):
You'll learn staff supervision techniques, food and beverage service management, accounting and human resource administration. You'll also receive BC FoodSafe and Serving It Right certificates as well as American Hotel and Lodging Association (AHLA) certificates that may be transferable to other colleges and universities.

International Trade Program (FITT):
Millions of new import and export trade opportunities are being created through NAFTA), APEC and WTO agreements. Vancouver Career College has partnered with FITT (Forum for International Trade Training), Canada’s national professional organization, to deliver the FITT skills program, including import and export management. The FITTskills program focuses on the practical aspects of international business, including logistics, nation-by-nation marketing opportunities, trade finance, market entry strategies and international management techniques.

Graduates of the program will be able to work in, manage, or own an import or export business, whether it’s a small business or a multi-national trading company. This program would also be an asset for those students applying for positions as customs agents, consulate officers and government trade officers.

Early Childhood Education Program:
The Early Childhood Education program will provide you with an excellent introduction to a rewarding career working with young children. You will study interpersonal communications, childhood development, behavior management and program planning. In addition, you'll learn teaching strategies that use drama, math, science, play and arts and crafts. You'll receive First Aid and CPR certifications as well.

As part of this program, you will observe experienced Early Childhood Educators in the field and then apply your newly developed skills during eight weeks of practicum. After completion of the coursework, you must gain an additional 500 hours of field experience required for licensing.

TESL - Teaching English Second Language Program:
TESL (or TEFL or TESOL), means Teaching English as a Second or Foreign Language, and a TESL certificate is the major qualification required to teach English abroad. Students learn how to create learner-centred lessons, manage classes and evaluate learners. With a supervised TESL / TESOL practicum component, graduates gain real classroom experience. Graduate may choose to apply for teaching jobs in Canada and internationally. Though not an admissions requirement, it is recommended that students have completed or nearing completion of a bachelor’s degree.
