Travel and Tourism Program:
Turn your passion for travel into an exciting career in the travel and tourism industry, the largest employment sector in the world! The CDI College Travel and Tourism program combines technical computer training with the necessary sales skills for a career-focused education. Learn to operate the two main computer reservation systems used in Canadian travel agencies; Apollo and SABRE. Learn about worldwide tourist destinations, cruises, ticketing, tariffs and travel agency operations. After graduation, apply for jobs such as a tour operator, airline attendant, travel agent or cruise ship facilitator, for example.
Accounting Administrative Assistant Program:
Accounting Administrative Assistants support all of the administrative functions for the Accounting Department, which include assisting in the production and distribution of weekly, monthly, quarterly, annual, and ad hoc reports. In this program you will develop the clerical skills as well as knowledge of both manual and computerized accounting through a series of lectures and hands-on learning. Courses include Business Communications, Manual Accounting and Computerized Accounting.
Accounting and Payroll Administrator Program:
The objective of this program is to give you hands-on training in the key areas of accounting and payroll. In addition to these core skills, you will learn how to use computerized accounting programs such as Simply Accounting and ACCPAC, and will acquire all the necessary skills to keep a set of books, both manually and on a computerized system. CDI understands that certifications set you apart in the job market. When you graduate, you will meet the requirements to receive the Payroll Compliance Practitioner certification from the Certified Payroll Management Program (CPMP). This certification is nationally recognized as the standard of excellence for payroll training so you can be confident that your CDI diploma is recognized and respected in the business world.
Professional Legal Assistant Program:
This program trains you to develop clerical skills, and introduces you to the legal terminology, concepts and documents utilized within the legal profession. The program combines lectures, discussion, assignments, practice file work, quizzes and examinations to prepare you for a fast-paced career in the legal field. Once you graduate, you will be qualified to work in law firms as office support personnel, legal departments of large corporations, financial institutions, in real estate and trust companies, as well as federal, provincial and municipal government offices.
Oil and Gas Administrative Assistant Program:
This program facilitates the development of clerical skills including keyboarding, computer skills, office organization, interpersonal skills, oral and written communication, and industry-related terminology and practices. Petroleum companies require their administrative assistant to have excellent office management skills, as well as industry-specific knowledge. The program will help you to develop effective office administration skills as well as to understand the terminology and practices used in the oil and gas industry. Graduates find employment in both large firms that require specialized skills, and smaller companies that require knowledge of all petroleum-related office areas.
Pharmacy Technician Program:
This program trains you in the skills and knowledge necessary to work in a pharmacy environment in various health care settings. This program will prepare you to work under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist in community pharmacies and retail environments. Emphasizing a customer-centered approach, this program also helps develop the proper attitude and sense of responsibility necessary for success in pharmacy career fields.
Typical duties of a Pharmacy Technicians include for example; filling prescriptions, counting pills, measuring medications, labeling products, providing patients with background information regarding their medications, verifying prescriptions, maintaining patient records, organizing insurance information, and performing clerical duties as necessary.
Early Childhood Education: Basic Program:
The Level II Early Childhood Education program prepares you to work with children up to 12 years of age by providing you a practical approach to child care learning. The Basic Early Childhood Education program meets the instructional and practicum hours as set down by Alberta Family and Social Services, Daycare Staff Qualifications Branch.
The program combines lectures, hands-on practical experience, discussions, video presentations and guest speakers. You will learn how to design drama, music and science programs for children. Develop valuable team building skills and knowledge of family systems. When you graduate, you will meet the requirements to obtain your Level III certification in Early Childhood Education.
