The Learning Center:
The Learning Center is a centralized system of support that enhances the ability of every motivated student to succeed in his/her studies at the College of Mount St. Joseph. It encompasses a Writing Center, Math Center, Peer Tutoring Program, diagnostic and placement testing, instructional and adaptive software, courses in basic academic skills, individualized assistance with study skills and learning issues, and academic support for students with disabilities.

Writing Center
The Writing Center provides individual consultation with students (and faculty and staff) at every stage of the writing process. Students receive personal attention from guides and teachers who assist in the development of writing and learning strategies that will help students become more effective writers.

Peer Tutoring
The Peer Tutoring program enhances student success in course work across the curriculum by providing concentrated, one-on-one intervention for students in need of extra instruction.

Math Center
The Math Center serves as a nexus between the Math Department and the College's remediation and one-on-one instruction in mathematics. The Coordinator and a staff of student Math Assistants work with students who need a bit of extra help in order to progress and succeed in their required math, science, business, behavioral sciences, and other courses. They offer both individual help and study groups. Test preparation for the GRE and PRAXIS I are also provided through the Math Center.

Individualized Study Skills Assistance

Individualized study skills assistance helps students acquire greater understanding of themselves and of the basic skills needed for success in the classroom: time management, goal-setting, effective reading and note-taking, test-taking strategies, and others.
