Court Reporting Courses in Toronto, Ontario

Canadian Centre for Verbatim Studies (CCVS), Toronto:
The Canadian Centre for Verbatim Studies (CCVS) is Canada’s only college specializing in the training of Court Reporters and Broadcast Captioners. Located in the heart of downtown Toronto, just two blocks south of Canada’s vibrant Yonge & Bloor intersection, CCVS is the nation’s first school of its kind. We offer both in-class programs (full & part-time) and online courses which meet rigorous National Court Reporters Association (NCRA) standards. At CCVS, our teachers provide students with one-on-one instruction and provide access to the latest technology available in the field of Court Reporting.

 Our Mission:

The average working reporter in the verbatim studies industry is currently 50 - 55 years of age. Canada desperately needs a new generation of work-ready court reporters now. The mandate of our program is to address this need and to replenish and fortify the ranks of the industry with expertly-trained, highly-skilled reporters and captioners. By its mere existence, CCVS doubles the nation’s potential yield of court reporters. Our exclusive practicum (work-placement / internship) helps our students to adjust realistically to the demands of working in the field. We’re committed to producing trained professionals and to placing those professionals in lucrative and rewarding positions after graduation.

 Why Choose Us?

CCVS has an exceptional program, far surpassing the stringent National Court Reporters Association’s minimum requirements. The CCVS curriculum also includes weekly current events discussions, an internship that allows students to train with some of the best agencies in Southern Ontario, and a Tools for Success class, dedicated to teaching life skills like fostering optimism, practical problem solving, communications, and interpersonal interaction. Our mandate is twofold. We are committed to sending our graduates into the workforce as the best in the field, not only technically, but equally trained in other important interpersonal areas. This is an essential combination for enduring success in today’s highly competitive working environment.

Furthermore, at CCVS, we teach Phoenix Theory, a conflict-free Realtime theory, offering both maximum computer and operator compatibility. Because of its attributes, Phoenix Theory is considered by both the president of the National Court Reporters Association (NCRA) and the president of the Chartered Shorthand Reporters' Association of Ontario (CSRAO), to be one of the pre-eminent tools in facilitating the success of industry graduates today.
