* Become a Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) by successfully passing the National Certification Exam administered by the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) and/or the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB).

* All of our instructors are state-licensed pharmacists as well as state licensed teachers and Registered Health Care Educators (RHE's). This course will cover such topics as drug delivery systems, medical terminology, generic and trade names of drugs, dosage forms, interpreting orders, storage conditions, inventory, legal and financial issues, and pharmaceutical calculations.

In addition, we offer our students practical training in dispensing, IV preparation, and practice certification exams to enable them to get certified, demand higher salaries, and start working immediately! Pharmacy technicians who can prepare intravenous (IV) medications are extremely marketable and demand higher starting salaries in hospitals, home infusion companies, and retail pharmacies — YOU CAN'T GET THIS FROM AN ONLINE COURSE!


 Approval:

The curriculum is approved by the New York State Department of Education and the program is also an approved training and certification site of the National Healthcareer Association (NHA). The course follows the guidelines for pharmacy technician training programs set forth by the American Society of Health-Systems Pharmacists (ASHP). All of the instructors are licensed pharmacists as well as Registered Healthcare Educators (R.H.E.’s) and NYS licensed teachers.

Facilities:
The school consists of classroom and lab facilities with simulated IV and dispensing areas. It is equipped with an elevator and restroom facilities.


 Pharmacy Technician Certification Exams:

There are two National Certification Exams for Pharmacy Technicians. The certification exam offered by the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) will be given on the last day of class. Students will be given a registration form for this exam during the first week of class. Students are responsible for registering and paying for this exam on their own.

The Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) also offers Certification to pharmacy technicians. Their exam is offered all year round by appointment at Pearsonvue computer test centers at various locations throughout the country.

The Pharmacy Technician Training Program prepares students to take both certification exams and recommends that students take at least one and ideally both to maximize their career success.
