We offer a 29-week Health Care Assistant (HCA) diploma program that has been designed by the Ministry of Advanced Education and Labour Market Development. It aims to provide you with opportunities to develop the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary to function effectively as a front-line care-giver and respected member of the healthcare team, in facility and community settings. Under the direction and supervision of a health professional, a health care assistant (HCA) provides person-centred care aimed at promoting and maintaining the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social well-being of residents / clients.

Note: CPR, First Aid, Food Safe and basic WHMIS (Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System) will be completed during the program.
Entrance Requirements: Grade 12/GED or mature student status. Applicants must successfully complete the admissions interview and entrance assessments.
Prerequisites: Applicants for this program must also have excellent communication skills, sign a criminal/medical waiver, submit a criminal record search, obtain a satisfactory certificate of health from a physician, and provide evidence of clear TB testing prior to acceptance. All must be done no more than 3 months before the start date of the program.
