The Loss Prevention Academy offers online, E-Learning courses in Loss Prevention (LP) to students worldwide. We also offer a 100% free job and resume board to assist trainees at LPjobsFREE. In addition, our goal is to promote shortage and safety awareness with modern day communication styles of posters.

Our first three courses are "position based” and are tailored to a specific position within the store, district or corporate office. The next two are focused on specific training within a position. These courses apply to any type of retail whether they are grocery, specialty or big box. The overall concepts of shortage and safety programs apply to any Country that has retail stores and we feel our training would be appropriate world-wide.

Loss Prevention for Employees:
This is a 2 hour course covering basic concepts of shortage control and safety for the hourly employee position. It is designed for new employees in retail or as a refresher for seasoned ones. This course covers topics like:

Why shrink and safety are important issues
Loss Prevention terminology
Common shoplift methods
Shoplift prevention methods
How they can impact shoplifting
What to do if there is a robbery
Importance of paperwork accuracy

Loss Prevention for Managers:
This 10 hour course is designed for the Loss Prevention, Store and Asst. Manager Position within the store. This training goes beyond the basics and is designed for the manager position that is responsible for shortage and safety.  This can also be an excellent course for District Loss Prevention Managers, Investigators, Store Owners and any support positions for the LP Department.  At the end of the training they will understand all aspects of shortage and safety control and how to engage the employees to “make it happen”. This course covers topics like:

How to conduct successful inventories
Store’s shortage path
Shoplifting and employee theft
Opening and closing standards
Importance of operational excellence

Loss Prevention Detective:
This 10 hour course is for the person that wants to become an undercover loss prevention detective. It is designed to cover everything they will need to know to catch shoplifters, identify dishonest employees and prepare them for the next position in their career as a manager. This course would also apply to law enforcement officers that need additional training in this area of crime. This course covers topics like:

Methods of shoplifting
Surveillance techniques
Shoplift prevention methods

Exception Reporting - Coming soon:
The Loss Prevention industry has developed an invaluable tool to identify theft patterns by employees and customers. It is called exception reporting or “data mining” which pulls detailed information from the registers and runs queries to identify potential dishonesty. This tool is invaluable when used by trained professionals for a retail chain. Our course that is being developed will cover how to use any brand of exception reporting to get going on using the program to its’ fullest potential.

Safety for Retail - Coming soon:
In addition to shortage control, safety is another major area of concern with escalating costs of treatment for a retailer. This area of responsibility often falls under Loss Prevention to develop and maintain a program. This course will cover all of the information needed to assist the person responsible for safety on how to build a safety program via programs and awareness.
