I am a single mother of one and manage two local video stores. I graduated from high school in 1992 and, prior to my online experience, I had not taken any post-secondary schooling.
My goal was simple - learn how to build a Web site and, with my busy schedule, online learning was my only option. I phoned SIAST and explained my situation. I enrolled in the Web Site Design and Development Program and take two online courses per semester. I could not do it any other way. I love it!
I never thought school would be like this. There is no set schedule, I work at my own pace on my own time and everyone is very helpful if I have problems. If I'm sick, I can catch up at a later date. I don't have to start my car in 40 below weather just to get to school and I can wear whatever I like.
I've already reached my goal and I am only on my third and fourth courses. I could quit now but there's no chance of that. My online experience has been wonderful. I simply cannot describe how much I have learned in such a short time. It's simply amazing. I would never have achieved my goal by taking a course in school - who has the time?
