CERTESL
CERTESL consists of two streams: a TESL stream, for people who plan to teach English either overseas or in Canada, and a TEFL stream, for people who plan to teach only overseas or who choose to get their start in the face-to-face TEFL Intensive. The first two courses in the TEFL stream of CERTESL are identical to the two courses delivered in the TEFL Program. Three courses are identical in both the TEFL and TESL streams. At the end of the second CERTESL course, successful participants receive a certificate that states they have completed academic study equivalent to that received by completers of the TEFL program.

TESL
TESL means English as a Second Language.” The term TESL is more commonly used when learners of English are studying within a community in which most residents speak English, for instance in ESL programs for new immigrants to English-speaking countries. However, there is a lot of overlap between TESL and TEFL. Many people with TESL certificates are teaching successfully in TEFL environments, and vice versa. Good teaching methodology is good teaching methodology, whether a teacher is TESL-trained or TEFL -trained.
