Training Direct is approved by the Connecticut Commissioner of Higher Education; Connecticut Department of Health Services; The National Healthcare Association; Eligible Training Provider Under Workforce Investment Act (WIA). Approval means that Training Direct has a competent faculty, offers educationally sound and up to date courses and has been thoroughly inspected and approved by an outside examining committee.
Methodology: Training Direct provides lesson materials prepared in a sequential and logical order for study by students on their own at home. When each lesson in completed, the student mails the assigned work to the school for correction, grading, comment and subject matter guidance by qualified instructors. Corrected assignments are returned immediately to the student. This exchange provides a personalized student teacher relationship.Programs

- Medical Office Assistant: The Medical Office Assistant Program prepares the student for a wide range of Entry-Level office positions in different areas of the health industry. They may work in the medical offices, clinics, public health departments and hospitals, etc. The student acquires the basics in medical terminology, records management, financial administration and administrative procedures necessary to assure the smooth functioning of a medical office. A six month extension will be granted to those requiring more time to finish the program. A high school diploma or GED is required. Upon successfull completion of the program, the student will receive a diploma.
- Medical Billing and Coding Specialist: The Medical Insurance Billing and Coding Program prepares the student for Entry-Level employment to process insurance claims that have become the life support of the medical office. There are a dozen roles that the student can fulfill in this growing area that includes patient and administration contact, working with computers, and accounting tasks. Specific duties center on: data collection from patients, hospitals, laboratories and physicians; diagnostic and procedure coding; timely generation of claims to maximize cash flow for the medical practice; keeping up to date on insurance plans, rules and regulations; bookkeeping transactions and follow-up on claims. Upon successful completion of the program, the student will receive a DIPLOMA. This course will offer student an optional opportunity to become nationally certified by the NHA, (National Healthcare Association).
- Pharmacy Technician: The Pharmacy Technician Program prepares the student for Entry-Level positions to work under the supervision of pharmacists, help prepare medications for dispensing to patients; label medications; perform inventories and order supplies; prepare intravenous solutions; help maintain records; and perform other duties as directed by pharmacists. The completion of this program will provide the student with the knowledge necessary to pass the national P.T.C.B. (Pharmacy Technician Certification Board) exam. It is also important to note that many pharmacies require a pre-employment drug test as a condition of employment. A high school diploma or GED is required. Upon successfull completion of the program, the student will receive a diploma.
- Veterinary Assistant: The Veterinary Assistant Program prepares the student for Entry-Level work under the supervision of veterinarians in diagnosing and treating animals for injuries, illness and routine veterinary needs such as standard inoculations and periodic check ups. Veterinary Assistants perform many tasks ranging from soothing and quieting animals under treatment to drawing blood, inserting catheters and conducting laboratory tests. Often time’s veterinary technicians have the closest contact to the clinic's animal population. In this context, the student acquires the basic medical terminology, the history, breeds and types of animal groups; feeding, handling, care, housing and diseases of animals; key terms, organizational structure and functions of the veterinary clinic, interacting with professional aspects of veterinary practices. Upon successful completion of the program, the student will receive a diploma.
- Paralegal: The Paralegal Program prepares students for Entry-Level positions to assist lawyers. The student will gain an understanding of the scope of law that is practiced in law offices, corporations and government agencies. This is an intensive course requiring extensive reading including cases demonstrating precedent in many areas of the law. In addition to understanding the breadth of the paralegal profession, students will begin by learning the terminology and then will study the judicial system, civil and criminal law, the anatomy of a trial as well as pretrial procedures and research. Students also study the different areas of law including Bankruptcy, Estate Planning, Family Law, Real Estate, Contracts, Torts, Immigration and Naturalization and Collections. The duration of this course is six months on a part-time basis. A six month extension will be granted to those requiring more time to finish the program. Upon successfull completion of the program, the student will receive a diploma.
Hotel Manager / Motel Front Office: The Hotel-Motel Career Training Program prepares the student to work in Entry-Level positions in the Hospitality industry. The student will learn abut the typical positions in the Hospitality industry, and the typical organizational structure of the industry, how each department functions, what the staffing requirements are in each department, as well as the character traits necessary for successful employment in each part of the organization. The student will be ready to apply for employment in any number of hospitality functions from front desk operations, to catering, to housekeeping, to sales and promotions, by way of maintenance, purchasing and convention organization. There is also considerable attention given to personnel selection, organization and management. This is an employee intensive industry where human relations will be an important component to successful career advancement. Upon successfull completion of the program, the student will receive a diploma.
