Saybrook offers three degrees: Master of Arts, Doctor of Philosophy and Doctor of Psychology (PsyD). Students seeking an MA or PhD are eligible to take classes in any program we offer, although they typically narrow their focus of study by selecting a concentration area.

Master of Arts
Students can earn a master's degree in any one of the three degree programs. Students entering the master's program must have completed an undergraduate degree from a regionally accredited college or university, prior to entering Saybrook's program. With the exception of Psychology MA- MFT Specialization students, Master's degree students must complete a minimum of 31 units of credit. Credits can be earned through courses, including a limited number taken as a Saybrook non-degree enrollee in courses or a certificate, conference attendance and independent study. All 31 units of Saybrook's master's-level credits are transferable into the doctoral degree program.

Doctor of Philosophy
Doctoral students must have completed an accredited master's degree before starting Saybrook's 76 unit doctoral program. PhD students must complete a minimum of 58 units of coursework plus 18 units for three candidacy essays and the dissertation for a total of 76 units. Credits can be earned through courses, including a limited number taken as a Saybrook non-degree enrollee in courses or a certificate, conference attendance and independent study.

Doctor of Psychology: PsyD
Become a charter member of our new PsyD cohort for this new and innovative program beginning in Fall 2008. This five year program is designed for students who aspire to make a difference in the practice of psychology and who envision a holistic approach to their life's work that integrates professional and personal growth through a learning model that emphasizes scholarship, practice and service.
