University of Washington, EDGE Program: Education at a Distance for Growth and Excellence (EDGE) at the University of Washington College of Engineering in Seattle is a flexible distance learning solution for working professionals. EDGE provides access to four fully accredited Master's Degree programs and 50-60 online, video, and CD-ROM classes every year to help engineers continue their education on their own terms. EDGE is fully accredited as part of the University of Washington's accreditation by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities. The quality of education EDGE students receive is identical to on-campus instruction.

Degree Programs EDGE delivers 50-60 courses per year, including representation from nearly every department in the College of Engineering. Most degree-seeking students complete one or two courses per quarter and graduate within four years with one of the following degrees: - Aeronautics & Astronautics - Aerospace Engineering - Applied Mathematics - Mechanical Engineering
Non-Degree Options Those individuals who are not interested in a master's degree may complete coursework on a non-degree basis. In addition to the courses offered through the degree programs, courses from the following departments are available through EDGE: - Applied Mathematics - Bioengineering - Chemical Engineering - Civil & Environmental Engineering - Electrical Engineering - Materials Science & Engineering - Technical Communication

Other Projects/Classes EDGE and UW Engineering Professional Programs are collaborating to offer Certificate Programs and Courses are offered onsite at Boeing, Everett. - Aircraft Composite Structural Analysis and Design - Aircraft Composite Materials and Manufacturing - Aircraft Composites Structures - Materials and Manufacturing
Construction Engineering - The Departments of Civil & Environmental Engineering and Construction Management are collaborating to offer a new master's degree in Construction Engineering. This 45-credit degree will combine engineering and management topics and apply them to the heavy construction industry.
TRANSPEED - This program, which focuses on continuing education in Transportation Engineering, seeks to increase its use of web technologies for its courses. EDGE is assisting in the creation of these online resources.
