Is Online Learning Right for You?
Online Learning courses are ideal for some students because they provide opportunities for students who cannot participate in traditionally scheduled classes at the College. Online learning courses can be fun, exciting, challenging, convenient and enriching. However, online learning courses are not for everyone.
Online Learning courses are not an easy way to earn credits. Actually succeeding in distance learning courses require a high degree of self-motivation, self-discipline and independance.
Some Common Mistakes Online Learning Students Make:
- Procrastination. You must stay on schedule in a online learning course in order to be successful.
- Failing to connect with the professor and students early in the class. Participatoin from the beginning and continually througout the course is essential.
- Trying to fit too much in a busy schedule. While Online Learners can flex their time, they must still have the same amount of time to dedicate to a Online Learning course as they would a traditional on-campus course.
- Thinking Online Learning is easier than traditional classroom study. It may infact be more difficult.
- Ignoring resources and support until it is too late to catch up. If a student experiences difficulty, it is essential that they get help as soon as possible to stay on schedule. Resources and support are available. Contact the Online Learning office for more information.
