S-TESL Online TESOL Certificate Programs

 

School Of Teaching Esl:
Since 1985 School of Teaching ESL (S-TESL), located in Seattle, has worked in cooperation with Seattle University College of Education to offer TESOL Certificates and a state-approved ESL Endorsement. The certificates are issued by Seattle University, Washington State.

Students who study in the online format typically complete the twelve-credit certificate in two to four quarters. The Online TESOL classes may not be taken for graduate status credit. Online students are required to be working with a group of ESOL students while enrolled in an online class.This may be a class you teach, a class in which you assist or volunteer, or an ESOL class of at least five students (non-native speakers of English) that you have created just for the purposes of the course and with whom you meet at least two hours each week. The School of TESL may ask for verification of your teaching situation.


 Courses:

Each Module must be finished within a week's time (with the exception of Module One which you have two weeks to complete). The entire online class (nine modules) must be finished within the 10-week schedule. Unless otherwise noted, all courses are 3 credits. All courses are available each quarter. - EPDES 935 - Cultural Variables in Teaching ESOL

- EPDES 936 - Teaching Content to English Language Learners

- EPDES 937 - Linguistics for ESOL Teachers

- EPDES 938 - Testing and Evaluating ESOL Students

- EPDES 939 - Student-Centered Learning in TESOL

- EPDES 940 - Self Analysis and Improvement in TESOL

- EPDES 944 - Curriculum and Program Design in TESOL (coming SPR 09)

- EPDES 945 - Computer-Enhanced Language Teaching in ESOL +

- EPDES 946 -Professional Leadership in TESOL (1 credit) +

- EPDES 960 - Teaching English to Young Learners

 Accreditation:

All classes taken through the School of Teaching ESL carry credits (900 level) from Seattle University College of Education.

Seattle University is accredited by the Northwest Association for Colleges and Universities. The College of Education is additionally accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education.
