Word Maker is a bit like the classic word game Scrabble, in that you score points for the amount of letters you use, as well as the difficulty of the letter.
This tricky online word buster will really test your spelling skills and vocabulary range, as sometimes you have to pick out words that you wouldn’t normally use. It will also test your thinking skills and decision making under pressure, as the clock is always ticking. This is a big grid of randomly-placed letter tiles, but the words are there – just waiting to jump out at you! The question is – do you have the Eagle Eye to spot them? Only one way to find out Word Maker! Good luck.
How to Play: Your goal is to create as many words out of the letter grid as possible. The words have to be legitimate, and between 3 and 8 letters long. Each valid word that you find or create scores points, (the number of points depends on the difficulty and length of the word.) Using your computer mouse, Left Click and drag through the grid to connect the letter tiles in any direction as long as the are touching or diagonal to each other. The letters that you select turn a gold yellow color once you drag across them. The word is created when you release the mouse click. You can go vertically, horizontally and diagonally, as well as backwards – just as long as they are adjoining or diagonal to each other.
If you create a legitimate word, you score the combined number of points indicated on the corner of each of the letters. Those letters then magically vanish, and more drop from the top of the grid to replace them. Occasionally, a special Blue Letter appear. Create a word with this letter in it to score double points. The clock in the bottom left hand corner counts down from 3 minutes. At the end of the game, you can review all of the words you found, and try again to beat your score. Along the left hand side of the game screen, a display shows you the word as you create it. This makes it easier to see whether or not you have made a legitimate English word.
