Natural Medicine Courses:
- Advanced Diploma of Naturopathy: Naturopathy
is an umbrella term that encompasses many forms of
complementary and natural medicine modalities. A
naturopath is a person who practices several of
these forms or modalities and who also has a solid
grounding in the medical sciences. The three major
modalities within naturopathy are nutrition,
homoeopathy and herbal medicine.
- Advanced Diploma of Western Herbal Medicine: Herbalists are trained in the use of herbal
medicines using a combination of hundreds of years
of experience and modern scientific methods to help
promote health and restore balance in disease.
Herbalists believe that using complex herbs rather
than isolated constituents ensures a much more
effective and holistic treatment. This course is
based on the western herbal medicine tradition which
reaches back to Greek and Roman times and beyond
Ancient Egypt.
- Advanced Diploma of Homeopathy: The central
theme of homoeopathy is the principal of 'similia
similabus curantur' which translates as 'like cures
like'. Homoeopathy is a system of medicine that
works by giving patients a dilute dose of a
substance that in a cruder form would cause symptoms
similar to that which the patient is experiencing.
Homoeopathy has been used successfully on humans as
well as animals. Studies will focus on classic
homoeopathic principles including history and
philosophy, intensive study of homoeopathic
medicines, case taking and prescribing, pharmacy,
manufacturing of remedies, clinical application and
homoeopathic research.
- Advanced Diploma of Nutritional Medicine -
New Government Accredited Course: Natural nutrition
is an understanding of the metabolic pathways
involved in the breakdown of ingested nutrients and
how many disease states may be prevented by
correcting the deficiency state using diet and
vitamin, mineral and amino acid supplements. This is
a very comprehensive course with advanced training
in nutrition and diet related fields, health
sciences, diagnostics as well as treatment
modalities. Some of the additional areas covered
include nutritional management in renal,
cardiovascular, gastrointestinal, endocrine and
immune disorders, palliative care, pregnancy and
paediatrics; diagnostic laboratory techniques,
iridology, as well as counselling. The additional
treatment modalities include Bach Flowers,
Australian Bushflowers and Schuessler Tissue Salts.
- Advanced Certificate in Nutritional Sciences: This course is designed specifically for graduates
of other professional courses who believe that a
grounding in basic naturopathic nutrition would
complement their other form of therapies, and for
those students who require a knowledge of nutrition
for the purpose of working within the health
improvement industry, e.g. health food stores,
health resorts, aerobic exercise centres and
gymnasiums. Students who wish to become a fully
qualified Nutritionist will need to complete the
Advanced Diploma of Nutritional Medicine course.
- Certificate and Advanced Certificate in
Iridology: Iridology is a form of diagnosis
using the iris of the eye. The colours and markings
of the iris reflect the state of the body making
iridology a very useful diagnostic tool. Most
Naturopaths use iridology as one of several
diagnostic tools in looking for disease patterns in
a client – often something seen in the eye will
confirm a diagnosis or suggest a new path of
investigation. The Iridology modules in the
Certificate and Advanced Certificate of Iridology
course are identical, however the Advanced
Certificate course also contains additional modules.
