College Application Advice - Some tips when applying to
your chosen college:
1) Inquire early and Apply early. Applying to college is an
important decision so you need time to research the institutions
and programs available. Make sure the programme you choose will
suit your academic goals.
2) When you have chosen your college and course, find out what
the requirements are to apply. You could contact the college
administrator by email if you have any questions that you were
unable to find the answers for.
3) Be Neat. When filling out the college application form
neatness is very important and can set a good impression with
your chosen college. Make sure you don’t make any spelling
mistakes. It is a good idea to have a spare form as backup, so
if you smudge the original you can start over again. Electronic
forms are a great option as mistakes are easily corrected.
4) Some colleges require letters of recommendation. Give
yourself enough time to source the letters from the relevant
people. It is important to keep copies of all letters in the
event you have to re submit your application again.
5) Make sure you meet the application deadline. For some
universities applications must be made 10 months before the
beginning of the school term. You may also need to sign up for
an entrance exam so the sooner you get started the better.
6) When sending your application double check that the ZIP code, postal / email
address and phone number and any other contact details are correct, so the college can let you
know the status of your application. It is so important to
double check, as so many people make simple errors and their
applications are wasted.
