Julian Ashton Art School - Australia's Oldest Art School:
Julian Ashton Art School in Sydney is a unique historic Australian art school. Conveniently located in The Rocks, opposite The Museum of Contemporary Art, and along side many creative outlets and shops on George Street, we offer full and part time courses to all students if there is a place, from 18 years to mature age, beginners and advanced. All our tutors are exhibiting artists dedicated to providing the perfect balance of individual tuition that allows students to proceed at their own pace. Diplomas and Certificates are awarded and Scholarships may be competed for by all enrolled students. They include; the Sir William Dobell, John Olsen, Brett Whiteley and Thea Proctor Scholarships.

Which courses are suitable for beginners?

It is advised that complete beginners commence their studies in the school with Basic Drawing and Painting, as the central componant of their courses in the school. These courses are held in the daytime at The Rocks and Georges Heights. Evening Students Beginners can choose any of the following courses in the evening at the Rocks Campus, Fundamentals of Still Life, Figure and Portrait Painting, Fundamentals of Life Drawing and Classical Life Drawing


Full and Part Time Courses:

Watercolour, Oil Painting, Acrylic Painting, Life Drawing, Printmaking, Sculpture/Modelling, Landscape Painting Classes.


Locations:

Our courses are available at both The Rocks and Georges Heights studios. We offer a wide range of courses each year during four ten week terms and our holiday courses are held in all school holidays.
