Established in 1908, it is a state integrated school offering Christian education to intermediate and senior aged students from age 12 to 18 (junior secondary to Year 13 high school). LAC is situated in Longburn near Palmerston North on the North Island of New Zealand, 2 hours north of Wellington. LAC offers education to local day students, 5-day / week boarding, 7-day / permanent boarding and international students.
LAC offers education to Christian children who attend church regularly (either them or their parents). Students are selected by a preference system during their enrollment selection process to abide by the agreement between NZ State Integration Authorities and the Seventh Day Adventist Church.
Located in Christchurch, New Zealand, this is a boarding and day school of the highest quality. Rangi Ruru Girls' School is one of New Zealand's top achieving schools, offering independent Intermediate (Year 7 and 8) and Secondary (Years 9 to 13) education for Day and Boarding students. New Zealand's national qualification for secondary school learners is the National Certificate of Educational Achievement - NCEA. Internatonal students are welcome. International students who do not have English as their first language will usually be asked to sit an assessment test in Christchurch, to determine whether they are ready to study in mainstream classes. All international students are mainstreamed and they must have the English skills to cope with classroom and homework tasks. Note: Entry to senior classes (Years 11-13) requires a higher level of English than entry to junior classes.
The NZ curriculum framework consists of 7 Essential Learning Areas: languages; mathematics; science; technology; social sciences; the arts; health and physical education. Rangi Ruru offers a wide range of curriculum choices within this framework. These include music, photography, graphic design, theatre arts; thinking skills; dance; drama; design and technology; fashion, fabric & design; media studies and computer technology.
