CCSS is a co-educational college in Cambridge (situated 50 miles north of London) offering GCSE and A-level courses to 200 students (Age range of 15-20), supported by 98 staff. The college provides close academic supervision, a friendly, informal atmosphere and high levels of pastoral care. One-to-one private tutorials are an important and uniquepart of all A level courses on top of group lessons.

The small class sizes (averaging 5 students) allow plenty of opportunity for individual involvement and for developing each student's levels of understanding. A full and flexible GCSE curriculum is offered and at A Level there are over 36 subjects to choose from, without restrictions on choice. We help students decide on the right subjects for university entrance.

 Our Values:

Our ValuesAll teaching and non-teaching staff at CCSS believe in our moral purpose: that through good teaching, pastoral guidance and close tutorial support, we can improve the life chances of ALL of the students in our care. CCSS is a unique and special place to learn. At a time when the best universities are looking for more than top grade passes, we firmly believe that the pathway to university lies not just in excellent teaching, but in close pastoral care, a broad education and personal guidance from dedicated and experienced teachers.

Quality Education
Students, teachers and parents at CCSS are celebrating the overwhelmingly positive results of the ISI inspection recently conducted at the college. Inspectors said that "CCSS provides a high quality educational experience", achieving its aim of providing an individual approach to every student. They also rated teaching as"high quality"and pastoral care as"outstanding".

Our teachers have on average over fifteen years experience of teaching at this level. This combined with our small class sizes and individual lessons in every subject means that you will have the best possible preparation for your examinations. The great majority of students graduating from CCSS go on to university in the UK or elsewhere, with many enjoying success at Cambridge, Oxford, LSE and other top universities in subjects ranging from International Business to Law and Medicine.

 Excellent A levels 2008:

Excellent A levels 2008The 2007-2008 academic year has been another successful year for CCSS students. The overall pass rate in the A-level examinations was an enviable 99.6 per cent, and 67 per cent of the pupils achieved A-C grades. Unlike many schools, CCSS is non-selective and therefore we are very proud of these results. Students come to us with different backgrounds and abilities, but all of them benefit from the individual approach and supportive environment at the college.

 Boarding / Residential:

Boarding / ResidentialOur houses not only provide a safe place for you to live and work, but also help you develop important skills such as getting on with others and striking the right balance between work and leisure. You are guided, helped and watched over by resident College House Managers.

GCSE and first-year A-level students join specific Houses where the rules are suitable for the age of the year-groups concerned. Upper-sixth and one-year A-level students live in 'final-year' Houses, where the regime reflects their greater experience and independence. GCSE and lower-sixth houses are single-sex, while final-year houses tend to be mixed.
You will have your own study-bedroom. Room sizes vary from House to House but all include study space as well as bed, storage etc. In two of the 'final year' Houses (Scholars and East) rooms have en-suite bathrooms. All houses have common-rooms with TV, newspapers, etc. We provide breakfast and evening meal, and there are facilities in each house for you to prepare snacks.

Location & Access
Cambridge is ideal for young people. It is small enough to get to know easily, yet its excellent museums, theatres, shops, cafes and restaurants offer the facilities of a much larger city. Cambridge is situated 50 miles north of London by car, and can be reached by train from both Liverpool Street and Kings Cross stations in London. The journey takes about an hour and the trains are frequent. CCSS is less than five minutes walk from Cambridge Railway Station. The new high-speed link from London Waterloo to the Channel Tunnel has just opened so trains to Europe are now much faster and have fewer security delays than airports.

National Express coach (bus) service run services from nearby airports London Luton (LON LU), London Stansted (LON STN), London Heathrow (LON HTH) and London Gatwick (LON GAT) to Cambridge. Most services run hourly in both directions. The majority of our international students use this service and it has proved to be safe and reliable.
