Wide Vision is a small school based in Teresópolis, a city up in the mountains of Rio de Janeiro.

As the name Wide Vision suggests open-mindedness is one of our main aims. We intend to broaden our students horizons. At Wide Vision we are interested in learning about other countries and cultures as much as we like to introduce our culture and language to our international students. Wide Vision has always been a good opportunity for our international guests to meet Brazilians that study English and Spanish there.

Our tuition is based on functions, situations and pairwork to get our students to use their language skills frequently. Of course, we provide our students with the necessary grammar to enable them to speak, read and write. We also speak Spanish and English at Wide Vision - but be sure, soon you will only talk to us in Portuguese!

We organise leisure time activities for our students, there are many chances to get in touch with our rich culture. Whether you would want to do community work, an internship or prefer to travel - we will support you with all your plans.

The easiest way to practise your language skills is to live with a Brazilian family. You get insights into our daily routine, make part of the family (if you like) and have friends right from the beginning. If you prefer to live in a hotel or in an appartment we will support you to find the right place - just let us know what you would prefer.

You want to have a sporty time in Teresópolis? Great! The city offers some very good opportunities to do sports. We introduce you two examples.

Predator:
We'll take you along to kickboxing and Brazilian jiu jitsu training at Predator. Fernando Pelaez and his club Predator have been an institution for martial arts in Brazil for many years. To join Predator is as interesting for absolute beginners as for those fighters that already joined competitions.

Associação Lagoa Azul:
If you think of doing something really special while you are in Teresópolis you should try out capoeira at Lagoa Azul, named after the beautiful Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas in Rio de Janeiro. Professor Everaldo, the instructors Beto and Quejinho and their friends are really looking forward to teaching you that wonderful unique Brazilian martial art. Soon you will know very well how to play capoeira and then you definitely have something to show to your friends at home.

There are many more great things to do in Terê - you may like to get into a samba school or want to climb the mountains - it's all possible.

Brazil - that's beaches and rainforests, Brazilian funk and bossa nova, favelas and luxury resorts, carnaval in Rio and the oktoberfest in Blumenau. But Brazil is definitely much more than that. Teresópolis for example. When glancing at the mountains that attribute so much to the famous panorama of Rio de Janeiro and looking a little further you may well be able to see the Parque Nacional da Serra dos Orgãos. As the name suggests its rock formation stretches into the sky like organ-pipes. Sticking out of it is the Dedo de Deus - the most famous landmark of Teresópolis.

Terê, in short, ist located 910 metres above the sealeavel and is surrounded by mountains. This and the fantastic landscape make Teresópolis the centre of Brazilian trekking and hiking. The city is widely known for hosting the Seleçao's - the Brazilian Main Soccer Team's - training base in Granja Comary. Terê's mild climate is popular with the cariocas - the people from Rio de Janeiro. They like to take the chance to escape the summer heat of Rio and come to stay in their summer houses in Teresópolis. And it is not far, by car it's just a little more than a one hour's drive from Copacabana. Teresópolis is a peaceful town of 170,000 inhabitants that offers everything for a holiday or a longer stay. Last but not least, Teresópolis is an excellent place to study Portuguese. Here you will have many opportunities to practice your knowledge and that quickly leads to a noticeable success.
