Film Production: From script to screen, VFS Film Production is a comprehensive, rigorous, and demanding program that focuses on developing the fundamental skill-set for an Independent Filmmaker. VFS offers you the chance to work with digital video, 16 mm, and Super16mm film stock.
Classical Animation: Classical Animation focuses on telling a story through movement using traditional animation and Flash. By learning the cornerstones of animation, you develop an understanding of motion, weight, balance, texture, colour, and design, as well as the discipline and intensity required for studio work, as you take your animated short films from concept all the way to completion.
3D Animation & Visual Effects: The 3D program teaches the creative perspective that computer animation is an instrument for telling a compelling story. By combining theatrical and technological training you not only learn to make films, you learn to make your film.
Digital Character Animation: Digital Character Animation is an advanced six-month production program for experienced 3D and classical animators looking to refine their skills in character animation as they create their own character-based film.
Game Design: The Game Design program at VFS takes you from concept to alpha to beta to final in just one year. You work closely with video game industry mentors in an immersive environment that mirrors that of a professional studio as you design, produce, and present fully playable games. Storytelling, level design, game art, motion capture, scripting, cinematics, and the business of games are all just a part of what you will learn.
Digital Design: Digital Design is about developing a wide range of skills - traditional graphic design, interactive or web design, motion design, and video production - as well as knowing which kind of creative solution is best for your client. What you will learn in our one-year program will allow you to draw on all the tools that drive today's media and entertainment projects, and will prepare you for life as a professional designer.
Sound Design: Our newly upgraded facilities include the most industry-relevant technology and software. On powerful Dual Intel iMacs and MacPros you’ll train on the most widely used sound design platform in the world, Digidesign Pro Tools 7.4.
Makeup Design: From big dreams to big realities - VFS offers the only Makeup Design program in the world that combines every aspect of the discipline in one amazingly intense year. Through an immersive study of all facets of makeup including stage makeup, fashion makeup, film and television makeup, and makeup effects, to script breakdown, on-set protocol and digital character design, one year at VFS prepares you to join any production team, day or night.
Acting: Acting for the camera requires a unique set of skills. What you will learn in VFS acting classes emphasizes the fundamentals of cinematic naturalism, the style you'll be expected to achieve most often when you're on set. From your very first day in school until the last, you'll be on camera.
Writing for Film & Television: Becoming a professional screenwriter requires a sophisticated understanding of storytelling, as well as knowledge of the film and TV industries. What you will learn in our immersive one year program - including theory, the craft of writing for film and TV, the writer's role in production, and how to enter the marketplace - will prepare you to launch your screenwriting career.
Foundation Visual Art & Design: This program combines traditional theories of arts education with training in modern visual media such as film, animation, and digital technologies, helping you grow as an artist by learning to examine every detail as a source of inspiration. Completion of the program is ideal preparation for entry to our one year production programs.
