Culinary Arts School of Ontario Courses
Culinary Arts Diploma, 5 month (360 hour) Culinary Management Diploma, Professional Baker Certificate, Bartender Certificate. Co-op Programs and an assortment of recreational cooking programs. Study full or part time.
The Culinary Arts School of Ontario o/a Chef School is a small Boutique style - "Restaurant Chef School" that offers intensive courses in the culinary arts.
Alongside the schools Restaurant, our students will become exposed to one of the most realistic culinary learning environments available. Chef School focuses on teaching both the required food science, cooking methods and hands-on requirements required to be successful in any Restaurant. Chef School's approach to learning encompasses a series of modules comprised of approximately 5 - 10 hours of Theory & textbook, workbook exercises, projects and 20 - 30 hours of in kitchen practical exercises. This way students will develop a knowledge base and will apply the appropriate principles immediately. This ensures greater opportunity for understanding,retention and application.
Students will also have the option to participate in Production kitchen (PK) modules within the schools restaurant. This experience will place the student in various live situations which will characterize life after graduation. We take pride in our combined opportunities for higher learning, students essentially eat, learn and create in a fine dining and learning atmosphere.
Once at the Advanced level, our students will be involved in their own venue development, planning and facilitation. Advanced students will be assigned one of the private dinning rooms within our restaurant and will have the responsibility to produce several fine dining events.. Becoming a chef takes formal training, talent and many years of experience working at as many different restaurants as possible and training under as many different chefs as possible. Students will not be ready to be in charge of a kitchen upon graduating alone.
Our signature approach to learning, is to take you through a focused, modular process. During each kitchen class session, you will be taught in a rigorous and intense hands-on environment. Your chef instructor will work side-by-side with you, demonstrating, observing, guiding and encouraging you. Get ready to be challenged, we will regularly task you to combine all skills learned and meet the standard of some of our very best restaurant chefs.
