Archer College, Vancouver:
Archer College Vancouver is located in the centre of the city and is close to buses, sky-train, stadiums, restaurants and shopping area. Parks and the beach are also close to the school. We offer 8 levels of English classes. The focus of these English courses is speaking and listening, but they include all language skills such as grammar, vocabulary, reading, pronunciation and writing.

English Test Preparation:Improve your test scores in these intensive classes. Succeed by learning the skills, strategies and patterns on standardized English tests such as TOEIC, TOEFL, and IELTS.


Cambridge FCE Preparation:This Fulltime course (25hours/week) is available to students preparing for the Cambridge First Certificate in English (FCE) exam. Topics covered include reading, writing, English usage, listening and speaking. There are 8 and 12- week programs available, which lead up to the official test date.


TESL Certificate Programs:- Classroom instruction

The curriculum will prepare you for a wide variety of classes (low beginner to advanced), focusing on adult learners but also including a brief overview of teaching children. While the class and course content will vary slightly depending on the chosen program, all of the courses will introduce you to the basic foundations of TEFL.

This 300 hour full time program is structured so that it can be completed in three months. Trainees should prepare themselves to work outside of class on take-home assignments. In addition to lesson preparation and teaching, trainees can expect to complete mini peer teaching assignments throughout the course.


TEFL:Our on-site programs are delivered at our campus in downtown Vancouver. They consist of four main components: Classroom Instruction, Practice teaching, Observation classes and Assignments/tasks. The curriculum will prepare you for a wide variety of classes and will introduce you to the basic foundations of TEFL which include the following topics:

- First and second language acquisition/ESL methodologies and approaches
- Lesson planning and procedures
- Developing teaching skills and professional classroom management techniques
- Teaching : reading, writing, listening, speaking, vocabulary and pronunciation
- Understanding and teaching English grammar, language functions and discourse analysis
- Learning activities for the student-centered classroom
- Evaluation of resources and adaptation of published and non-published materials
- Curriculum development and course design
- Needs analysis, testing and evaluation of students
- Teaching children and English for special purposes
- The job-search process and work environment
- Foreign cultures, culture shock and living abroad - what to expect.


TEFL Extended Practicum:This program is for three types of students:

1 Those who have done our 130-hour in-house TEFL course and would like to be eligible for TESL Canada Level I professional certification,

2 Those who have done our 100-hour distance education program, and

3 Those experienced teachers who have done their TEFL course elsewhere and would like to do a practicum with us.

To fulfill the requirements of this practicum, you will need to complete additional lesson observation tasks, teach assigned classes and work on academic assignments.

This practicum takes 20 hours and between one and two weeks. The full extended practicum meets the requirements of TESL Canada's stand-alone practicum.


TESL Canada certification::Archer College's 150-hour TEFL Program is TESL Canada recognized. This makes you eligible for TESL Canada professional certification if you have an undergraduate degree. TESL Canada certification is a separate process to be undertaken by each student individually. The school, however, can assist you in completing the application.
