 Institute of Advanced Computer Science (LIACS) at Leiden University
The Leiden Institute of Advanced Computer Science (LIACS), part of Leiden University, is situated in the same building as the Department of Mathematics. The total number of students is approximately 300. The program complies with the new Bachelor/Master structure. The first year is the so-called propedeuse. Knowledge of the Dutch language is obligatory for the bachelor program. After the three-year bachelor it is possible to extend your study with a two-year master program. Master students have several training options: Computer Science, Media Technology, ICT in Business. The courses of the master program are given in English, and a student is required to have proof of a sufficiently high TOEFL score (a language proficiency test). After the master program a student has the option to join the PhD program within one of our research groups. Currently there are approximately 20 graduate student (AIO’s) participating in the PhD.
