Top Business & Management School in Portugal
The ISEG School of Economics and Management
(Instituto Superior de Economia e Gestão) is
part of the Technical University of Lisbon (Universidade
Técnica de Lisboa – UTL). ISEG's origins date
back to 1759 and contributes to the
modernisation and development of Portugal by
training future economists and managers. The
objectives of this school include the promotion
of education, culture, research and consulting,
as well as nurturing exchange and co-operation
at both national and international levels. Many
faculty members obtained PhD’s and post-doc
training in leading foreign universities. The
quality of both teaching and research programmes
is regularly assessed in order to guarantee
students outstanding services in higher
education.
There are currently 3000 undergraduate students
enrolled in the degrees of Economics, Business,
Finance, and Applied Mathematics for Economics
and Management. In addition ISEG offers a wide
variety of graduate programmes in Economics and
Management; 900 students are currently enrolled
in Masters and PhD degree courses.
Language of instruction: As most lectures
are given in Portuguese; a reasonable knowledge
of the language is essential. However, language
competence is not an entrance requirement. There
are different Portuguese language courses in
Lisbon for which you may apply. In recent years
ISEG has provided students with a Portuguese
language course, which was given on the school
premises.
Location: ISEG is a part of the Technical University and is located in Lisbon, near the Portuguese Parliament. Nearby Lisbon Airport is
very close to the city centre so that you can
reach ISEG by taxi (ask about the fare
beforehand and for a receipt at destination). It
should cost around 8 euros. Alternatively you can go by bus, the AERO BUS, which goes from the Airport to Santa Apolónia railway station in the city centre. If you arrive by train, you will reach the elegant Victorian-style Santa Apolónia railway station. To get to ISEG you should take de 6 bus and get of at Rua Conde Barão/D. Carlos I.

Economics and Management, Finance, and Sports
Management (run in conjunction with the Faculty
of Human Kinetics, Technical University of
Lisbon). These degrees include several areas of
specialization and provide students with a vast
range of study options in the economic and
business sciences.
Post-graduate Courses - Different specialized
post-graduate programmes, which aim to reinforce
the relationship between teaching and training
activities in economics and management and the
professional skills required in economic and
business activities. Post graduate courses

the main specialized fields in Economics,
Management, Applied Mathematics and Social
Sciences. The degree is awarded after the
presentation and assessment of a dissertation.

Sobre o ISEG: A origem do Instituto Superior de
Economia e Gestão remonta à Aula do Comércio fundada em
1759, anexada em 1884 ao Liceu de Lisboa com o nome de
Escola do Comércio. Após diversas designações, como
ISCEF e ISE, tem a sua identidade até aos nossos dias
como ISEG, situado na histórica Rua do Quelhas.
O
ISEG é a Escola de Economia e Gestão mais antiga e
prestigiada do país, por onde passaram e continuam a
passar grandes personalidades da vida económica e
política nacional. A par do peso da história e tradição,
o ISEG tem procurado viver com dinamismo o presente,
enfrentar com inovação e ousadia o futuro, prosseguindo
com um ensino moderno, científico e pedagogicamente
inovador.
O Campus do ISEG é constituído por 5 edifícios que
dispõem de serviços de bar, cantina, restaurante e
cafetaria, sala de informática, sala de estudo, parque
de estacionamento coberto, agência bancária, livraria e
biblioteca.
A biblioteca do ISEG disponibiliza mais de 140 000
livros, 3598 títulos de revistas em suporte papel e 5016
títulos de acesso on-line, 20 bases de dados em CD-ROM e
on-line e acesso a publicações de organismos
internacionais.

Programa Alßan: O Programa Alßan é um novo programa de
formação de alto nível para latino-americanos na União
Europeia cujo objectivo é o reforço de cooperação entre
a UE e a América Latina no âmbito do Ensino Superior e
engloba estudos de pós-licenciatura (mestrados e
doutoramento) bem como a formação de alto nível para
profissionais, futuros quadros em instituições ou
centros na UE. Os destinatários são 18 países da America
Latina: Argentina, Bolívia, Brasil, Chile, Colombia,
Costa Rica, Cuba, Equador, El Salvador, Guatemala,
Honduras, México, Nicarágua, Panamá, Paraguai, Peru,
Uruguai e Venezuela.
Programa SÓCRATES/ERASMUS: Na perspectiva de aproximação
à dimensão europeia, ao enriquecimento de experiências
pessoais conduzindo marcadamente ao melhor
posicionamento dos nossos alunos relativamente ao mundo
do trabalho e às transformações constantes que aí
ocorrem, o ISEG tem apostado desde 1989 no programa
comunitário SOCRATES/ERASMUS. Actualmente, a presença do
ISEG neste programa é bastante significativa, tanto ao
nível nacional como ao nível das áreas de estudo –
Economia, Gestão. O ISEG colabora nas vertentes
Mobilidade de Docentes e Mobilidade de Estudantes.
