CCSS is a co-educational college in Cambridge (50 miles from London) offering GCSE and A-level courses to 200 students (Age range of 15-20), supported by 98 staff. The college provides close academic supervision, a friendly, informal atmosphere and high levels of pastoral care. Our teachers have on average over fifteen years experience of teaching at this level. This combined with our small class sizes and individual lessons in every subj ect means that you will have the best possible preparation for your examinations.What makes our GCSE course good? Inspiring teaching in small classes, effective supervision, good communications and a positive atmosphere. CCSS offers: Experienced full-time staff and high quality teaching; Small class sizes with an average of five students; Close supervision and support; Sporting and cultural programmes for wider interest. Whatever your background, we provide a structured, effective programme that covers the entire GCSE syllabus in three terms. The GCSE programme is delivered over 30 weeks, with 40 hours teaching each week and homework each week. Although the course is intense, we get good results and most of our GCSE students go on to take A levels either at CCSS or at local state-run colleges. Subjects and course choice The GCSE programme is a structured programme that offers a broad range of subjects that provide students with varied and balanced curriculum covering aspects of linguistic, mathematical, scientific, technological, human and social, physical and aesthetic and creative interests. Personal, social and health education is delivered as an integral part of the education our students receive. Students usually take 5 - 9 subjects, depending on their background and future plans. A new GCSE subject can be taken even if the student has not experienced it previously. GCSE retake courses and Easter Revision courses are also available. GCSE Subjects Offered include Biology; Business Studies; Business & IT; Chemistry; Chinese; Drama; Economics; Language and Literature; ESL (English as second language) towards IGCSE; Fashion & Textiles; Fine Art; French; Geography; German; History; Maths; Physical Education; Photography; Physics; Polish; Portuguese; Psychology; Russian; Spanish; Theatre Studies. You may also have an opportunity to study an AS Level subject alongside GCSE subjects. We will discuss everything with you at interview to make sure we get the subject mix right.
