Learn German in Germany - Berlin Language School Classes
 The Friedländer School is a recognised language
school in Berlin in which people of various
nationalities learn German. Founded by Professor
Veronika Schmidt Dr. phil. habil., the language
school is today managed by her son, Ulrich
Schmidt Dipl.-Germanist.
The Friedländer School is situated in the centre
of the city. Whoever comes to Berlin wants to
see and experience the best of the city. A great
many of the city's attractions are to be found
within the vicinity of the Friedländer School in
the district of Friedrichshain. The fascination
of this district of Berlin is great and above
all draws young people to it. Here one can
discover the changing life of the city in its
contrasts between old and new, between its
history and the present, and between east and
west. Life begins in this district in the
evening, when the cafes and scene pubs fill up
and a colourful mixture of people take their
places at the tables. It seems as if everyone
knows everyone, for everyone speaks with
everyone, even if they have never met before.
And don't forget: the small theatres with their
surprisingly good programmes and actors. On
sunny days it is well worth making an excursion
into the green countryside and to the many lakes
in the outskirts of Berlin, which are quickly
reached by S-Bahn.
The school was named after David Friedländer
(1750-1834), a disciple of the enlightenment and
active campaigner for a respected position for
the Jewish people in Prussia.
Courses
The summer courses are visited by students from
all parts of the world. In the internationally
mixed classes German is the common language of
communication. This demands the active use of
the spoken language. The language of instruction
is at all times German, even though the teaching
staff can in many cases speak one or more
foreign language.
For whoever is able to stay in Berlin and learn
German for a longer time, we recommend
attendance of a German intensive course. This
course offers the possibility to learn the
German language systematically. This implies
attending a course, which progresses from level
to level and which mediates and consolidates
every important element of the language as well
as a basic vocabulary.

specialists, who speak without dialect. They
know all the rules of both the current and the
new German orthography.

Special Course: Further education towards
becoming a teacher of German as a foreign
language:
This specialist course fills an existing gap in
educational training. It offers a possible
qualification for participants, who occupy
themselves with the German language or would
like to enter this specialist field. The entry
requirement for the participant is knowledge of
the German language system and of the linguistic
terminology. The course is especially intended
for students of German and other languages, and
students of education and interpreting as well
as for those in related professions.
The prices for 2005 are:

Summer course 1 week - 160 Euro
