It has built up a network of 141 institutes in 80 countries and teaches German to over 20,000 students each year in Germany alone. The Goethe Institute has 51 years of experience in teaching German as a foreign language, teacher training and developing curricula, examinations and course materials.

The Goethe Institute is centrally located in Dusseldorf in a modern building right at the main railway station (exit: Bertha-von-Suttner-Platz).
