The Goethe-Institut is the Federal Republic of Germany’s cultural institution worldwide. It has built up a network of 141 institutes in 80 countries and teaches German to over 20,000 students each year in Germany alone. The Goethe Institute has 51 years of experience in teaching German as a foreign language, teacher training and developing curricula, examinations and course materials.

The Goethe-Institut is situated in the heart of Hamburg in northern Germany, and this central location alongside the Kunstmeile (or 'art mile') offers excellent transport links by train, bus, underground or the S-Bahn suburban rail network. The institute is also easily accessible by car. Parking is available in the Hühnerposten carpark.
