The Goethe-Institut is the Federal Republic of Germany’s cultural institution worldwide. The Goethe Institute in Dresden is located in the Dresdner Neustadt neighbourhood, approximately 20 minutes' walk from the Elbe River and city centre, within easy reach of public transport. The building dates back to the late 19th century. The spacious grounds of the institute include a small park with mature trees.
