Zamora Academia Elemental de Español was established to develop new and exciting ways of teaching Spanish, thereby building on the long tradition of excellent language schools in the colonial city of Antigua, Guatemala. We provide intensive individual Spanish lessons, daily activities, lodging with a Guatemalan family and volunteer work opportunities, classroom & curricular material, teachers of recognized experience. Our teachers develop custom lesson plans based on a student's goals, basic comprehension level, conversation skills, and learning style.

Complete cultural immersion, in addition to one-on-one classes, encourages students to practice their newfound language skills at every turn. For optimal progress, we recommend that students lodge with a host family while in Antigua. We have known all of our host families for years and guarantee that students will be comfortable, safe and encouraged to practice their Spanish skills with the family. Host families will provide three meals a day and can accommodate vegetarian diets.
For your convenience, all host family housing is within walking distance of the school, internet cafes, movies, banks and all of the entertainment that Antigua has to offer.
If you have any special requests, don't hesitate to ask when you make your reservation. Our host families have been doing this a long time and are happy to provide whatever services they can.

We offer a variety of activities outside of classes to help students practice their Spanish and learn more about our culture:
- Dance lessons (salsa and merengue)
- Movies in Spanish
- Round Table Discussions (focusing on current events in Guatemala)
- Local Tours - museums, coffee and macadamia nut plantations, social projects, nearby towns, etc.
- Athletic activities
After classes and on weekends, students explore Antigua's restaurants, movies, internet cafes, fitness center, bars, lecture series, etc on foot or by bicycle. In addition, students can take pottery classes, play tennis or learn to dance. Tour operators run a variety of single- and multi-day trips to attractions like the Mayan ruins in Tikal, artisan cooperatives, diving in Lake Atitlan, and the beaches of Belize.
