La Ceiba is the third largest city in Honduras and is also regarded as one of the country's most important ports. The city's name was decided in honour of a giant ceiba tree that used to grow here on the shores of the Caribbean Sea in the spot where today the city's principal avenue and First Street converge. Due to its natural beauty La Ceiba has been declared by the Honduran Government as "The Capital of Ecotourism". Our Spanish School in La Ceiba, is located close to the center of the city, just 4 blocks away from the ocean.
