EUTDH:
The Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona School of Tourism and Hotel Management (EUTDH - Escola Universitària de Turisme i Direcció Hotelera)
is situated on the university's Bellaterra
Campus, which provides all of the services and
facilities expected of one of the country's
leading universities. Tourism education is
conceived as a combination of theoretical
knowledge and its application to the realities
of the tourism sector.
EUTDH offers students the chance to be educated
as future hotel and food service managers, with
residential practical training in the
Hotel-School located on the UAB campus, in which
the academic installations and the hotel are
located in close juxtaposition, integrated in
the same block of buildings.
Practical training focuses on departmental
management with rotations by departments (food
service, cooking, accommodation) and by area
(banquets, flats, reception). This training is
guided by professional support tutors and
instructors from the hospitality industry,
academic tutors and lecturers.
Accreditation: The Degree in Hotel
Management is accredited by AQU Catalunya
(Agency for the Quality of the University System
in Catalonia, Spain).
EUTDH school is accredited by Applus+ (which is
accredited by ENAC, the National Entity of
Acreditation in Spain), according to the rules
of teaching and management quality (UNE-EN ISO
9001-2000 and UNE-EN ISO 14.001-2004).
Undergraduate Course: Degree in Hotel Management
(in English) - a
3 year study program designed by UAB, with a clear
basis towards management level and incorporating
the most innovate trends in hotel management.
It is structured into two
main career branches: Hospitality, Catering.
Course Content:
Although all tuition is in English, Spanish
is taught as a second language to a level of
fluency, and students must also learn a third
language (French or German). In their final year
students will spend several months working in
Spanish hotels, and those who wish to perfect
their Spanish language skills further will be
given the opportunity of taking a limited number
of specialised, optional courses in Spanish.
The programme provides a highly
multidisciplinary education, applying modern
pedagogical methods and conforming to the ECTS
system. Theory is combined with practice, which
includes resident internships at the adjoining
