The Language Centre at University College Cork offers intensive courses and part time courses in ELT during the academic year, and also has a Summer School from July to mid-September. The courses are open to both students of UCC, and those who wish to take one of the many courses available at the centre. The English language courses are offered in English for general, academic, and professional purposes. Each year hundreds of students prepare for and take the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) examination, or also the Cambridge First Certificate (FCE), Advanced (CAE), or Proficiency (CPE) examinations in our centre. The teaching staff are all highly qualified and experienced, and will help you to maximise your language learning potential, and in your academic endeavours. The courses place an emphasis on developing the learner's communicative ability, while also equipping them with techniques to maintain and develop their learning outside the classroom setting.

The summer courses offer fifteen hours of English tuition per week, a weekly programme of afternoon activities and full day excursions on Saturdays to scenic locations, weekend trips to Galway and/or Dublin, outdoor educational centres for activities such as sailing and canoeing and horse riding. Our school is located only 4km from Dublin city centre and 15 minutes by car from Dublin airport. Entry level to our courses is pre-intermediate and our classes are from 9am to 1pm, Monday to Friday (20 hours tuition per week). We are a Cambridge testing/examination centre for FCE, CAE & PCE.
