Polimoda Fashion Design and Marketing Institute: Florence is the capital city of the Tuscany region in Italy and is famous for its rich history and culture. Built on the river Arno, its wealth of art and architecture makes it a very popular tourist destination with millions of visitors each year. It is considered to be the birthplace of the Italian fashion industry. Polimoda is located close to the center of the city and is easily accessible via car or public transport.
Location and Facilities:
Our school provides a technology training center to meet the training needs of field specialists, instructors and students participating in professional training courses. The Tech Lab is the most advanced training structure in the field of state-of-the-art fashion technology in Italy. It has 82 graphic workstations in four different laboratories in which it is possible to follow the development of the fashion product from conception through the whole cycle of production. The entire structure has a 24-hour-a-day Internet connection.
Polimoda's Documentation Centre/Library hosts the largest and most important collection of international documentation on fashion existing in Italy today. It is a primary source of information, research and inspiration for anybody interested in fashion, whether it is for professional, academic or personal reasons.
In our Textile and Colors Archive, students have the chance to consult over 15,000 cloth samples - as well as color and yarn boards - to help them learn about fabrics and come up with their own original designs. All of the material labels season, composition, brand name so that students may appreciate and compare the quality and range of products to be found in the market. There are also journals for research in design, fabric, trends, etc.
The Design Lab houses the patternmaking, styling, shoe and accessory labs. These labs are equipped with state-of-the-art industrial machinery that give students the chance to study in real-life educational environment.
