 The Darkroom School of Professional Photography, located in Florence, Italy, is a member of the National Association of Professional Photographers. Our main goal is to prepare you for a career as a professional photographer. Our courses are held by high-level teachers, all professionals in different fields, e.g. photo reportage, advertisement, fashion, portraiture, architecture, beauty, scientific, sport, nature and artists of glamour, nude and ancient printing techniques. We believe that only professionals that are in touch with the real world of Photography have the knowledge to transmit to you.
Specially developed for the needs of our students, we offer intensive courses that begin every month and a nine-month academic course that begins every October. At the end of this academic program you will have the necessary knowledge to start a professional career. Our professional photography programs are of the highest standards and are envisaged to give you the highest understanding of light, composition, aesthetics and use of modern techniques and gears. Special attention is given to recognizing and improving your natural skills. We believe in practical experience so a great deal of time is given to darkroom and field work. Our programs will help you study every technique that is helpful to express your creativity, both in the darkroom and using the computer.
Our courses are tailored for beginners who want to learn and have fun with photography as well as for the experienced who want to become professionals and learn how to solve technical and esthetical problems. From the very first lesson we teach how to shoot without the help of a light-meter as well as making images with the latest digital technologies.
Courses
- Intensive Photography Course, runs monthly and can be attended for a minimum of one month. The main goal of this program is to lead you into the photographic profession while having fun with photography.
- Academic Photography Course, this nine-month course offers you two different careers: the first is the commercial career; the second is the artistic career for personal research and Photography as a means of self-expression. This program is of a high standard, to give you the highest level of knowledge about light, lighting and composition.
- Evening Photography Courses, tailored for participants that wish to learn the basics of photography, along with experts that wish to improve their knowledge of darkroom techniques, composition and advanced shooting techniques.
- Special Courses - Master Photo Journalism - Geographical and Social Travel Reportage with Luca Bracali.
- Combined Courses - Internship Program with Photography and Italian Language
- Summer Photography Courses – run from June until September.
