Basic Jewelry CourseAlchimia Contemporary Jewellery School, Florence:
Alchimia is a private contemporary jewellery school located in Florence, Italy.  We offer academic jewellery design courses at BA and specialization levels, and also short-term intensive programs from 2 weeks to 3 months in length. Our mission is to provide students with both technical and conceptual knowledge in contemporary jewellery, while providing a supportive and practical working environment.

Basic Jewellery Course:
Our Basic Jewellery Course can be taken as the first part of our three year program or as a standalone course. The course is divided in 2 terms, 12 weeks from September to December and 20 weeks from January to June.

 In this course, the students learn and experiment with the basic techniques necessary for the creation of jewellery. The teachers guide their pupils through this training, as well as the design process, so as to allow the students a gradual technical and creative development. In short, the objective is to equip the students with confidence in the fundamentals of jewellery making, which contribute to the design and subsequent creation of jewellery.

No exams are required for admission to thBasic Jewelry Courseis course. The number of students admitted is limited to 10-12 to ensure that each students receives the individual attention they require. 

Subjects covered include:

- basic techniques of jewellery construction
- technical drawing
- analysis of form
- wax modelling
- jewellery design and rendering
- prototyping
- gemmology
- ergonomics

In addition to the theoretical and practical lessons the program includes lectures and seminars with goldsmiths and designers of international fame and visits to fairs and exhibitions in Italy and Europe.

The school assigns a personal workbench to each student enrolled in the course. Students have free access to all facilities during school office hours for the entire school year.
