 Philisophy:

Providing a unique environment open to different avenues of exploration and fun! We offer a world of discovery where children explore their infinite imaginations, foster friendships that are never forgotten, build strong, healthy bodies, develop cognitive skills for their precious futures, and have a wonderful time doing it.

 Teaching methods:

Our activities are based on themed units throughout the year, which incorporate both teacher-directed activities, real-life experiences, and student-directed activities. Through each unit we coordinate our interests into three steps:
1.Introduction to the unit: Teachers will introduce a specific topic and help gather information with the children through books, pictures, experiences, questions, and other activities.
2.Real-life experience in the unit: Whether it is a trip to the zoo or a hunt for butterflies this is when the children experience the theme first hand.
3.Expressing the unit: After we have observed the information and real-life experience it is time to explore, manipulate, create, dismantle, and construct to express what such things mean to us.

 Programs:

International Preschool Courses; Yellow Team Program for children from 18 months to 2 years old; Red Team Program for children of the age of 2 to 3 years old; Rainbow Team for children from 3 to 6 years old; After School Program with Ballet with a professional ballet teacher from the Austrian Ballet company and Afternoon Baby Sitting program. Programs are in English and Japanese.

 Children of our world:

As children grow, they will want to become more independent, therefore we have discussions and activities about safety and health, and give the children many tasks to do on their own. The children at Shirogane International School will engage in a number of themes throughout the school year: all about me, the farm, the ocean, the seasons, and more! We start each theme with activities that help us introduce the concepts to the children and to help stimulate the children's interest. Moving on, we dig deeper by exploring and discovering the different aspects each theme has to offer. We may play games, sing songs, and even go on an outing! Finally we wrap up our our learning process with activities that recap what the children have learned.

 Our classrooms as Learning Centers:

By connecting our children's creations to real-life experiences, we were able to productively explore everything from ABC's and 123's to science and social studies! Our classrooms are designed so that children have numerous opportunities to learn. There are learning centers where children participate in various activities including art, language, math, science, drama, music, and movement. Play is encouraged in all activities! In our curriculum, we also allow for a multi-cultural experience. We have numerous events throughout the year to introduce different cultures and events. We encourage parent participation! Often our parents visit the classes for the day and have a wonderful time learning more about each other, singing a few songs together, and even reading a book or two.
