Language Immersion Programs Offered:
This immersion program consists of three main components: 1) core language classes 2) language exchange program and 3) language and culture workshops. These components are designed to allow participants to progress rapidly and gain fluency in the language.
Short Duration Programs: 4 weeks to 12 weeks
Designed to focus on developing spoken Japanese and fluency, programs consist of 20 core language classes a week complemented by interactive workshops and language exchange with a native speaker (see description above). The curriculum is designed based on the needs of each proficiency level and the program duration. Modern teaching methods focus on instilling linguistic, practical, and cultural aspects of the language as well as the Japanese way of life. Class work using everyday topics and interactive teaching methods ensures that participants achieve the goals of each proficiency level and progress rapidly.
Long Duration Programs: 13 weeks to one Academic Year
Designed with a similar structure and content to the Short Term Programs, these programs consist of 20 core language classes a week complemented by interactive workshops and language exchange with a native speaker. These programs are ideal for those who wish to devote a significant amount of time to learning and mastering the language. Participants improve rapidly in the language and become well acquainted with the Japanese lifestyle and customs. Class work combined with excursions and activities ensures a comprehensive learning experience.
Regular Program
This Japanese program introduces everyday expressions, grammar, vocabulary, and sentence patterns. It is specially designed for students with no or little previous knowledge of the language. Class work focuses on daily expression, sentence struc
ture and idiomatic constructions with an emphasis on pronunciation. Oral exercises and drills ensure that participants learn from the start the correct pronunciation. The program aims to provide the language skills needed for effective communication. Topics studied include everyday situations and Japanese culture, society, and history.
Intensive Program
This Intensive program is designed for Elementary to High Advanced levels. This course is ideal for students who would like to take the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT), and for those who wish to further their studies at Japanese Universities. The language classes integrate all aspects of Japanese including reading, writing, speaking, listening, grammar, and vocabulary. As students are introduced to the Kanji writing system, previous knowledge of the Hiragana and Katakana writing system is required. Class work focuses on developing oral expression, listening comprehension, reading comprehension, writing, and grammar. Topics studied include everyday situations, as well as Japanese culture, society, and history. Listening and speaking skills are emphasized to enable participants to attain communicative proficiency.
Language & Culture Programs
The Language & Culture programs are designed to immerse participants in Japanese through class instruction, language exchange with native speakers, language workshops, sightseeing excursions, and numerous activities. Japanese Language classes integrate reading, writing, speaking, and listening with the development of grammatical skills and vocabulary for communicative proficiency. These programs are ideal for students who would like to learn Japanese in a relatively short period of time. The overall aim of the program is to ensure that participants not only learn the language but also experience the Japanese way of life. Host Family accommodation is included.
Total Beginner's Program
This T
otal Beginner program is designed for participants who have never learned Japanese or who have learned a few words but cannot express themselves in complete sentences. Classes focus on introducing basic vocabulary, grammar, sentence structures, and simple texts. Participants will be taught Hiragana and Katakana writing systems. Oral exercises and drills ensure that participants learn from the start the correct pronunciation and intonation.
Japanese Language & Martial Arts Program
This program is ideal for those who wish to combine their Japanese Language studies with Martial Arts training. Japanese language classes focus on developing listening, speaking, reading, writing, grammar and pronunciation. Train in traditional Japanese martial arts, Karate or Judo, in the land of their origins.
