Tokyo metropolitan area, including the city, some of its suburbs and the surrounding areas, is home to approximately 12 million people. This vibrant and lively city is one of the world's main economic centers. Home to the Imperial Palace, Tokyo is a city full of contrasts where the old city blends its ancient character with modern day Japan.
Located right in the heart of Tokyo's city center, Chiyoda District, the Academy of Japanese Language and Culture is close to Tokyo's main business and financial district, as well as universities and numerous bookstores and retail offerings. It is conveniently located a minutes walk to nearby train stations such as Jimbo-cho, Kudanshita and Suidobashi Stations. A 15 minute train ride will take you to other major areas of Tokyo city such as Shibuya, Shinjuku, or Ikebukuro.

World Link Education makes all accommodation reservations and preparations for participants in the total program. A wide range of options is offered to suit different needs. For the privacy and convenience of participants, single rooms are provided. Double rooms are available for two students coming to Japan together and studying for the same duration. Accommodation reservations are made as soon as the applications are received. The accommodation is finalized and confirmed only when the participant has fully enrolled and paid the program fees.
Host Family - Live in a welcoming home with a Japanese family and learn about the culture and traditions while improving your Japanese. Host families have been interviewed and selected by onsite staff. Factors taken into account when selecting families include the cleanliness and comfort of the home, nature of meals (that breakfast and evening meals are varied and balanced), family presence and the family's ability to welcome international guests. Special requests should be stated clearly in the Application Form. Requests such as diets, allergies, non-smoking household or no pets, will be taken into account when placements are made. For students staying with a Host Family there is a curfew. Please contact WLE for more information.
Student Dormitory - Each room is furnished with a bed, side table, air-conditioning, and washing machine. Single private rooms are provided with bathroom and kitchenette. No meals provided. Bed linen is provided, however towels are not provided. A deposit is required to be paid to the landlord on arrival. It is returned provided there are no damages. As the Student Dormitory is a popular option, early application and enrollment is advised.
Residence - Live in a single room in an international residence. Each room is furnished with a bed, desk, chair, and air-conditioning. Single private rooms are provided with shared kitchen and bathroom facilities. Double shared room is available for two students applying together and studying for the same duration. Meals are not provided. Some International Residences have various leisure and recreational facilities, such as table tennis, pool table and common lounge (with internet access). A deposit is required to be paid to the landlord on arrival. It is returned provided there are no damages. When leaving the Residence, students are responsible for their room to be left clean and in the same condition as when they first checked in.
Studio Apartment - Live in your own private fully furnished studio. Suitable for one person or a couple. Studio apartments are furnished and located in surrounding residential areas in Tokyo. A deposit is required to be paid to the landlord on arrival. It is returned provided there are no damages to the apartment.
Free Guided Excursions, Activities and Events:
To ensure a comprehensive learning experience, a range of free guided excursions, after-class activities, and social events are included as part of the Total Program. These after-class activities provide participants with education outside the classroom, expanding their vocabulary and knowledge of Japan's rich and varied culture, tradition, history, art and society. A calendar of scheduled events is provided at the start of the program and varies according to the student intake. Admission and transportation are included at no additional cost. The program of scheduled activities varies. These excursions and activities are held on weekday afternoons or weekends and may include the following:
- Imperial Palace, Yasukuni Shrine, Koto Performance, Odaiba, Bowling, Karaoke, Museums and Gardens around Tokyo, Tokyo Water Cruise, Asakusa, Tea, Ceremony, Edo Lampworking, Furin (wind bell) Making, Farewell Evening.
