Skylark School of English:
Skylark School of English is a young and friendly language school in Msida that provides a range of English courses to students from around the world. Our English classes are conducted by professional and dynamic teachers. All our teachers are fully qualified and specially trained to teach English to foreign students. Skylark is within walking distance of the University of Malta (which is one of the oldest in Europe), the Yacht Marina and Sliema - Malta’s largest and most modern town. The school is also on a major bus route, which can take you to Valletta - the capital city of Malta, or St Julian’s – Malta’s nightlife and entertainment centre.

English Courses:
General English Semi-Intensive Course (GESI)
20 lessons per week. / Maximum of 10 students per class. / Course Duration: 1 to 52 weeks.
If there is only 1 student at a particular level, the lessons will be reduced to 10. If there are only 2 students at a particular level, the lessons will be reduced to 15.

General English Intensive Course (GEI)

Business/Technical English Semi-Intensive Course (BESI)
20 lessons per week / Maximum of 6 students per class / Course Duration: 1 to 52 weeks.
If there is only 1 student at a particular level, the lessons will be reduced to 10.

Business/Technical English Intensive Course (BEI)
30 lessons per week. / Maximum of 6 students per class. / Course Duration: 1 to 52 weeks. 
If there is only 1 student at a particular level, the lessons will be reduced to 15.
Cambridge English Examination Courses:
20 (semi-intensive) or 30 (intensive) lessons per week / Maximum of 6 students per class / Tests: Twice a year (December and June). 

If there is only 1 student at a particular level, the lessons will be reduced to 10 (Semi-Intensive) or 15 (Intensive). If there are only 2 students at a particular level, the lessons will be reduced to 15 (Semi-Intensive) or 20 (Intensive).

Courses are available at all the following test levels: KET, PET, FCE, CAE and CPE. Specifically set course-books and audio-visual materials are used throughout the courses. A series of mock tests prepared exclusively by the University of Cambridge Local Examinations Syndicate (UCLES) in all five test papers (Reading, Writing, Listening, Speaking and Use of English) are held in the last week/s of each course. We can also offer this type of tuition on a one-to-one basis or in combination with another course.

IELTS ® and TOEFL® Preparation Courses
20 (semi-intensive) or 30 (intensive) lessons per week. /
Maximum of 6 students per class. / Tests: Monthly (special sessions can also be arranged). 

If there is only 1 student at a particular level, the lessons will be reduced to 10 (Semi-Intensive) or 15 (Intensive). If there are only 2 students at a particular level, the lessons will be reduced to 15 (Semi-Intensive) or 20 (Intensive). 

- IELTS: Students are prepared for either the Academic Version of the test (for University or college admission purposes) or the General Version (for emigration purposes to Britain, Australia, Ireland, Canada or New Zealand).

- TOEFL: Both paper and computer-based materials are used. TOEFL is taken for University or College admission in English-speaking countries or for emigration purposes to the U.S.A. or Canada.

Specifically set course-books and audio-visual materials are used throughout the courses. Students sit for mock tests in all test papers before taking the actual tests. We can also offer this type of tuition on a one-to-one basis or in combination with another course. TOEIC and other test-preparation courses are available upon request.

Minimum of 2 lessons of 60 minutes each. Available in the morning or in the afternoon. Private lessons can be taken at our premises or on location (eg. offices/hotels). ESP courses include: Medical English, English for IT, English for Tourism, Legal English, English for Engineers, English for the Aviation Industry, etc.

Semi-Individual Lessons
Semi-Individual courses consist of private lessons intended for two persons of a similar level booking together (e.g. a couple, colleagues). Available on their own or in conjunction with a class course. Minimum of 2 lessons of 60 minutes each. Available in the morning or in the afternoon. Semi-Individual lessons can be taken at our premises or on location (e.g. offices/hotels).

Course Combinations:Together with our regular General English, ESP and Academic (IELTS, Cambridge and TOEFL) courses, we are now offering on request the following course combinations for the first time:

English+Diving: A combination of General or Business English and diving in the clear waters of the Mediterranean Sea. Prominent boat and plane wrecks together with wonderful natural formations typify the Maltese diving scene. Join over 60,000 divers who visit Malta annually! Diving instruction is available for beginners.

English+Culture: A combination of English together with afternoon sessions focusing on Malta's crucial role in Mediterranean and European history followed by tours to the top sites of this ancient Island. Dubbed “the Shield of Europe”, Malta stopped the Ottoman advance into Western Europe in the 16th century and stood alone in the Mediterranean badly bruised but never beaten during both World Wars. The fine megalithic temples are the oldest buildings in the world predating the pyramids and Stonehenge by over a thousand years. Welcome to Malta... welcome to the 7th Millennium!

English+Golf: Business English courses brought to you by experienced teachers together with golfing at the Royal Malta Golf Club (1888)'s 18-hole golf course boasting well over 100 years of golfing history. The golf course is open throughout summer as well as winter thanks to Malta's mild Mediterranean climate and is only a 15-minute drive from the school.

English+IT: This course is being offered to those who wish to be well prepared for the modern world. We believe that success in today's world depends on one's skills in two particular fields - proficiency in the English language and computer literacy. These are both provided in this specially-combined course. This course is offered at different levels at the clients' request. Courses are also available for groups of school children as well as for adults. Courses focusing on particular computer programmes and applications could be booked in advance.

English on Three Islands! This is a course like no other. You start at our main Centre on the biggest island of the Maltese archipelago. Then we move on to the sun-drenched Blue Lagoon island - Comino and finally to the mythical Island of Calypso - Gozo. Your English teacher will also be your guide as you hop with ease from one island to the other! This course is available only in the summer and for groups of no more than five (or private lessons).
English+Basic Italian: While brushing up your English why not try your skills at learning the basics of the language of Dante, Leonardo and Pavarotti? Only 80km from the coast of Italy, Malta is the ideal crossroads where British and Latin cultures meet. Other languages (Spanish, French, Russian, German, Arabic and Chinese) are also available on request and can be taken on their own or in combination with English.

Excursions:

- Round Malta: A whole day cultural cruise around the Maltese islands with full historical commentary.

- Neolithic Temples: The Neolithic temples are a fine example of Maltese prehistory. Malta's rich heritage in stone is revealed in all its mysterious splendour as one ponders on the mathematical precision and religious fervour that went into the building of these unique buildings.

- Marsaxlokk: The Crafts Village is 'the palace' for local hand-made arts and crafts - an ideal place for souvenir hunting. This tour ends at the fishermen's hamlet of Marsaxlokk. Here students can admire the wide array of brightly coloured boats and watch local fishermen mending their nets and unloading their fresh catch of fish.

- Mdina: Mdina is a historical place. You will be taken to various places and be given information about historical and cultural sites.

- Comino & Blue Lagoon: A boat trip to the island of Comino renowned for its unforgettable crystal clear waters of the Blue Lagoon. After it's dining and dancing on the beach. The beach is lit up with floodlights for a possible evening dip in the crystal clear water.

- Gozo: The sister island of Malta has a character entirely of its own. It’s only a short sea ferry trip away from Malta. Attractions included in the tour are the Ggantija Prehistoric temples dating from between 3600 B.C. and 3000 B.C, Calypso’s Cave, the Azure Window at Dwejra with its Inland Sea, the fortified city 'Cittadella' of Victoria and the picturesque fishing village of Xlendi.

- The Three Cities: Discover the historical area known as the three cities. This excursion takes you through the various narrow streets shaded by many historic buildings and churches.

- Valletta: This excursion takes you through the bustling streets of Malta’s Capital City. You will visit the Barracca Gardens which command a breathtaking panorama of the Grand Harbour and then go to St. John’s Co- Cathedral, which is adorned in riches that date back to the times of the Knights of Malta. You will also visit the Grand Master’s Palace and see the stateroom. Lastly you will stop at the Malta Experience, a multivision show that depicts Malta’s history throughout the ages.

- Blue Grotto: An exciting boat trip on one of the local colourful fishing boats through the crystal clear waters of the Blue Grotto.

Leisure Activities:

- Splash & Fun: Experience the thrills and enjoy the fun on the great water chutes of The Splash & Fun Park, which boasts the highest and longest water chutes in this part of the Mediterranean. In addition, the park contains a large lagoon-shaped swimming pool and an exciting children's park. The Mediterraneo Marine Park is a fun-filled educational visit to the home of dolphins, sea lions and a variety of other wonderful animals.

- Cinema: The Eden Century Cinema is a 16-screen American-Style multiplex. All screens have the latest projection and digital sound technology All cinemas are fully air-conditioned and offer a total of 4,500 luxury seats laid out in stadium style affording maximum seating comfort.

- Nightlife: Paceville in St Julian's offers a vibrant night out! Paceville caters for all tastes - from the latest in club music to piano bars and jazz clubs.

- Jeep Safari: Experience Malta and Gozo's most breathtaking views and countryside by bike or jeep. The routes vary from a leisurely pace through various country lanes, to hard and rough off-roading.

- Sandy Beach: Beach BBQ

Sports:
- Abseiling: Half a day of pure fun. Climbing, abseiling and aerial ropeways at various locations around Malta and Gozo. Fully qualified instructors will assist you on your day of abseiling.

- Bowling: The Bowling Centre has 20 lanes and a variety of entertainment - from fun bowling to National bowling leagues and International tournaments.

- Horse Riding: Horse riding can be enjoyed the whole year round (however we recommend that you ride early in the morning or late in the afternoon during the summer months). Students can choose between professional riding lessons and pony trekking in the countryside.

- Water Sports: The Maltese Islands are a Mecca for all water enthusiasts. We can organise various water sport activities such as windsurfing, snorkelling, paragliding, sailing and water skiing. Professional diving courses can also be organised with one of the many approved diving schools on the island. These dives take place in some of the most amazing diving sites in the Mediterranean.

- Outdoor Sports: We can organise various sports activities such as football, basketball, tennis, etc, at several sports centres. Malta's temperate climate allows students to enjoy outdoor activities practically all year round.
