Microsoft Excel Training - Career Options

What it involves:
Microsoft Excel is a spreadsheet application
developed by Microsoft. It can run on both
Microsoft Windows and Mac operating platforms.
Its features include calculating, graphing tools
and pivot tables. It also includes its own
programming language called VBA (Visual Basic
for Applications). It is by far the most
dominant spreadsheet application available.
Microsoft bundle Excel as part of their
Microsoft Office suite.
Certification:
Microsoft offer Excel Certification as part of
the Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) program.
The exam is a performance based test where you
will be required to create or modify a typical
business document. It is recommended that
candidates have at least one year’s experience
of working with excel prior to sitting the exam.
This experience can be gained either in a work,
home or school environment. The exam consists of
15-20 questions requiring you to complete 30-45
tasks. You must complete all questions in 50
minutes.
The exam covers the following topics:
- Organizing and Analyzing Data
- Managing Data and Workbooks
- Formatting Data and Content
- Protect cells, worksheets, and workbooks
- Share workbooks
- Merge workbooks
- Track, accept, and reject changes to workbooks
- Customizing Excel
- Apply workbook security settings
Career:
By certifying in Excel, you have proven that you
have mastered the skills necessary to work with
Excel. You have a well respected IT credential
that enhances your marketability, and gives you
the competitive edge when applying for jobs. |
